Some people were standing in seated areas. We don’t want any of that sort of stuff at the MKM. Anyone standing apart from the 1,500 in the safe standing area should be tasered and banned for life.

    BBC version...

    What the managers said
Coventry City manager Frank Lampard told BBC CWR:

"I'm disappointed not to win the game. I'm happy with a clean sheet. I thought we were the better team and deserved it, we had a lot of control of the game and played in their half a lot.

"Maybe as the first game there was a lack of 5% at the top end of the pitch.

"We looked like us, we played like us but we didn't have that little extra. That's probably the difference as otherwise we probably win that game."

Hull City head Sergej Jakirovic told BBC Radio Humberside:

"I'm very happy with the point, especially the beginning of the season when you never know where you are after the preparation.

"It's very confident for the boys to see they can play against favourites as Coventry, for me, is in the top five in this league.

"It's a very promising point for us."

Loved Ajayi’s defensive work today. He just imposes his physicality on the game. He also has telescopic legs which just appear out of nowhere to nick the ball. If he stays fit he is a big step up from Jones and McLoughlin.

He's a proper monster isn't he, not had a physical presence like that since Faye, even some of the bigger lads we've had like de wijs, Maguire, Davies etc haven't had that same presence, fingers crossed he stays fit, will make all kinds of difference this season

I think we all can be happy with the way we played and the result, yes, there is room for improvement, but considering they had a settled side from last term, and ours is still a work in progress, overall more than satisfying result and performance.

Ajayi is definitely an upgrade on Alfie Jones, and his partnership with Hughes looks good already. Giles looks as if he is getting back to his best, and I hope Sergi keeps faith with Drameh at RB, as he has a solid game also.

As other have said we really need a good number 6, and when Matazo is back in midfield with Lundrum, Crooks, Slater or Palmer looks reasonable.

McBurnie and Gelhardt in and Millar & Belloumi nearing return, going forward we are starting to look better.

Even though Ndala didn't see a lot of the ball, he certainly looks a player, and he will grow into the job.

A point and clean sheet against a very good outfit is not to be sniffed at, things are looking much more optimistic.

Sheffield United manager Ruben Selles told BBC Radio Sheffield:

    "I'm massively disappointed.

"We came here today, we wanted to have a good performance in front of our fans and nothing went on the side that we wanted.

"There are some technical aspects that we need to improve. But we have some parts of the game, especially after we equalised, where we can use that moment to score the second one and change the dynamic of the game.

"We didn't, they did and their third goal was a massive factor in the game and we conceded the fourth one too quick.

"There is a lot of things to improve, it's not good enough from anyone starting from my side."

This from the BBC report really shows how good a point it was yesterday, 'They picked up 35 points from their 15 home games under Lampard as the basis for their play-off push', that's either 10 wins 5 draws or 11 wins 2 draws 2 loses at home, either way they're winning 2 out of 3 home games, there will be a lot of teams who go there this year and come away with nothing.

Might as well be a copy and paste with what he'd say after most of our games last season.

he’s also lightening quick, some seriously good business this season, binning Selles was a masterstroke too.

How refreshing is it to have a team full of big horrible bastards, McBurnie came on and straight away tried strangling there keeper and backed big horrid Crooks. Excited for Miller/Belloumi/Matazo to come back an all.

I only saw highlights and when we defended we had a lot back , do you think we can keep that will to get back and defend ? As the season moves on that will take some discipline .
Other question is did we play any decent quick ball to get forward ?

We did, more so in the first half. Giles, Abu, Crooks and, err, Slater involved in a lot of it. It was all very promising.

I've just watched the post match interview of Jakirovic. He singles out Crooks with criticism of his decision making with an opportunity. He's breaking rule number one there for a manager of not criticising the players in public.

Against better teams like Coventry on their patch, we did need to get behind the ball on more occasions than if we play a less capable team. What we missed yesterday IMO, was a forward that could hold the ball up, to allow the rest to get up the pitch. Joseph isn't that type of player, hopefully McBurnie is.

However, yesterday, we did try to get the ball forward more quickly and did have a few half chances which because of that.

Luckily Egan is a more than capable deputy, and by the sounds of it Famewo should be up to the required standard as well?
