Looking at their "palmares" , apart from the last decade
historically it has been very dull indeed being a Lesta fan.

I am sure you are right but I would prefer to do things the right way. It basically makes no difference to which players they can afford. Smacks of the furlough decision was both less damaging and quickly reversed.

Erm... we were just about to pay £60m on MGW. Are you now saying that money can't be spent?

If Frank's players are not good value, the alternative is to acquire better value players, not abstain from the acquisition process altogether.

The squad is now weaker than it was when Ange won the cup. How is that acceptable?

If you are correct, which you may well be, then Levy should refrain from telling lies like "we need to win the League and the Champions League", when actually, the club is not in the market to aim for such titles.

Me too, it’s same with City, Chelsea and even Newcastle. Fans forget very dodgy things if it means on the field success.

I think we have at least another £100m to spend. I assume we are trying to sign someone Frank wants rather than just a kneejerk reaction to missing out on Gibbs-White. We tried to sign the player we really wanted early in the window. I don't think it's surprising we are struggling to find a decent alternative.

Bilal El Khannouss has a £22.5m relegation release clause

So...how do we offer that exact sum of money and still wind up getting the bid rejected?

In other news, Paratici is reportedly trying to sell Bologna on the idea of Bryan Gil. So no wonder there's not many transfer rumours right now...

Read earlier that Bryan Gil is Spurs second longest serving player. If true that’s funny and damning at the same time.

Dane Scarlett and Alfie Devine outrank him too, given they had their first appearances before Gil arrived

Brandon Austin does on a technicality, too

There's a theory going about that the Premier League are going to ditch PSR at the end of the coming season, and certain clubs have gotten wind of this and are spending like it's 2016 all over again even though PSR is still (in theory) in play as they know they won't be punished

It will be great fun though.
When Chelsea are forced to pay Newcastle £500M for Harvey Barnes
And Ryan Reynolds decided he might as well leave Wrexham

I'd totally forgotten he was still a spurs player until hbic's comment.

What a waste of time and money.

You and I have had many discussions on the topic of the loan covenants.

I stick with my opinion of over two years which is that the real increase we need is to our upper wage limit.

I'd much prefer us to sign one £80-90m player per summer and pay him £300-400k in wages - and damn any team mates who complain, they should just play better if they want to earn more.

Currently our upper wage is circa £170-200k, which in the overwhelming majority of cases won't fetch a player whose value is more than £40-60m and in all likelihood will lead to overpaying a player who isn't actually that good and will consequently be impossible to sell.

I think that paragraph describes our transfer policy of the past 4-5 years quite accurately.

All this said, it might be wiser for ENIC to pump £100m per year of equity back into the loan repayments to clear them much quicker, and use the remaining £50m on promising youngsters in the mould of Bergvall and Udogie.

Our current approach, as long as it is hamstrung by our wages lagging behind half the PL, is doomed to fail.

I know so much of their business is blatantly crooked, but just read that Chelsea have raised £250m from sales of academy products in the past three years.

We've made less than half of that, most of which was due to the Kane sale.

    We sold three other products:
    Skipp - £18m
    Winks - £12m
    CCV - £7m

Our academy is an unmitigated disaster.

Yeah been an awful move for all concerned. Unfortunately he’s not done well enough on loan for any of those clubs to want him either.

I agree with your solution if it were achievable but any player who deserves such wages will choose to join someone else in any case.
So better to continue to spend as we are and hope to get lucky.
