Terrible overall team performance, and there was only one player worse on the night than Chambers and that was Willock. He is absolutely useless - no pace, no effort and makes my blood boil with that stupid grin on his face all the time very reminiscent of Bacuna.

After the euphoria of that Posh game performance which was ostensibly against another bunch of kids, we were brought back down to earth by a battling, tough and committed League One side - and there are more of them to come.

It was good to hear BBM talk about the issues last night, straight away too rather than churning out the usual cliche's of "I thought we dug in well, deserved a point" etc.

Interesting view on Trott - basically blaming the outfield players for not being where they should be and for putting him under pressure too often. Personally I thought his distribution was pretty poor all evening and even the distance on his kicks seemed less than it should have been if he was aiming for Salech / Robbo up top when going long. I'm sure there was perhaps a bit of both to it after listening to BBM?

It's going to be another topsy turvey season, but then we all knew and expected that (anyone that thought we were going to do a Birmingham seriously needed their heads read).

If BBM can get the team (full of youngsters) to gel over time then it will set the club up fantastically in the longer run but we have to view this as a 2 - 3 year 'project' (shudder) rather than expect a quick fix...
I noted the look on Mozza's face in the studio when Michael Brown asked him if the fans will have the patience to allow BBM the time he needs to pull al the strands together and mould the team and squad to be an effective unit... his 'politician like' response of "if they play like they did on Saturday" was a very polite way of saying that if they continue to struggle like last night, the fans will turn quicker than Kier Starmer on his policies!!

No doubt the doom mongers will jump on this performance, ignore any positives (and there were a few crumbs to pull out) and the whole context of new young team, new manager, the fact it takes months (not days or weeks) for new ideas to become ingrained and we'll already start to see some fans bemoaning the inexperienced manager, lack of spending, same old City, same old Tan etc. etc. etc (oddly absent on Saturday though eh?)... but in this instance I genuinely believe nothing could be further from the truth - the problem is, ALL CLUBS fans are fickle and in the modern world, 3 points is all that matters, regardless of performance to most nowadays...

I've said it many times before on here how I've seen our lot get outplayed but win a game, and be given a standing ovation at the end of a game, yet conversely play incredibly well, but get beat only to be booed off.... :steam:

Anyhow, rant over, we have the magic of the cup to look forward to next week now before a trip to the new lake district on Saturday!!

Still unbeaten this season - glass half full!!! <cheers>

I drove up, parked in a side street near the ground, found a 100 year old chip shop in May Street. Cracking fish and chips for £6.50. Chatted to quite a few friendly locals. Didn't sample any beer. After the game, traffic a bit slow heading out of Stoke but once on the M6 it was a good run back, with most of the City buses well behind me

Its why I'd have stuck with Turner.
It'll have been a dent to his confidence being dropped.

It would also have allowed Trott more time in training to get used to his new mates, then give him a run out in the cup. As it is, he's had a poor experience first game out.

    Double whammy.

Barry goes on about picking players on what he sees in training. Cant have seen much of Trott.

    Bad call by B B-M I feel.

It appears he didn't get much shot stopping practice though. Only 1 shot on target for each side.

Not disagreeing with you Nin. I didn't watch it due to a prior commitment and all reports say we were terrible.

However the positive points are that despite putting up a poor show, we kept a clean sheet and got a point from a place where many will go and get nothing.

We must have done something right or did we use up half a season's worth of luck.

PV arguably had a goal wrongly chalked off but another ref could have given us a penalty for a tug on Salech’s shirt.

PV also didn’t seriously work Trott.

The blindingly obvious takeaway was City lacked mental and physical presence and no leader. Chambers is a wet rag. City need a Morrison Bamba type at the back and an Ian Gibson Paul Ramsey Kavanagh type in CM.

Port Vales offside goal - I dont think it was offside but Lawlor stops when he sees the flag and in my opinion stops the goal if there is no goal.

Had the same thought. Both defenders stopped so can't be sure he would have scored.

I thought it was one of those ridiculous ones where his arm may have been offside!

Have seen a few Vale claiming Bagan should have seen red for his challenge but it was from a standing start, his trailing leg was bent and when you see it back there was minimal contact.
It LOOKED bad but actually the yellow was bang on.

If you really watch it the scruffy pony tailed PV player isn’t touched yet he then allegedly in agony holds his shin and does a few rolls. Bagan gets the ball and not one part of his leg touches the cheating PV player.

He should have been carded for cheating. That should have been a second yellow for claiming he was elbowed in the first half when he wasn’t touched.

So ergo he should have been red carded.:emoticon-0130-devil

    Just thinking about offside.
For a goal, all of the ball has to cross all of the line.
For offside, a teeny, tiny bit of you cross the line and you're offside.
    Seems a bit inconsistent.
