The way I saw it was that he was initially stepping in to try to stop Rushworth doing something stupid ... and ended up getting booked for his efforts.

 

They seemed to be targeting him in the second half but for the most part he stood up to it

 

Oxford losing at home.

Need more players.

 

Need 1/2 for the deeper midfield roles. Zambrano is good for us long term, but we need bodies in there.

 

I thought he got done time and time again. Really struggled and constantly allowed them to get into dangerous positions. Thankfully then did **** all with any of the opportunities they had to create something.

Psychologically, it's big, makes a point, bullies and lets the oppo know we're there. It winds them up and rattles them. I love it and we've missed this sort of thing for some time now.

I agree that they didn't seem as impressive as last season. I think you see it sometimes with teams that missed out in the play-offs the previous season and just seem to lose their momentum the next, even when they manage to keep their better players so it's ostensibly the same team.

Or maybe just first day nerves and us getting amongst them. We'll see how it pans out for them as the season goes on I guess.

Coventry's Frank Lampard:

"They defended their box well - I think you could tell they were very happy with the draw.

"So, not easy to break down and maybe with the (lack of) sharpness at the top end of the pitch in the first game of the season it can be a difficult game for different reasons.

"But I was happy with lots of our play, happy with a clean sheet - it's always important if you're not going to be absolutely at your best you make sure you don't concede.

"Disappointed not to win the game, but there are positives to take, moving forward."

"It was a very tough game for us because of the pressure (from Coventry). It was the first round (of the season), but we were defensively very good.

On not being able to sign new players...

"At least we can bring in three players on loan - in my previous club (Kayserispor) I had an embargo as well.

"Nobody could come and join us, we had 13, 14 players plus academy players, so I was used to it already, this situation - they're joking with me (that) I brought the embargo to Hull."

 

Can’t grumble with Clean sheet away to one of the fancied teams , Did we create much and nearly win it or was it more of a dig in kind of point?
