Great start. Solid defensively and got some muscle and bite in the team. Still lacking one creative player probably but have enough to prove all the bandwagon hopping pundits wrong about us going down. Factor in all the players we are going to get coming into the side as season rolls on and a top 8 finish at least is on.
Brilliant defensively. Not a game to be judging our forward players on. Other than the obvious performances already mentioned I was impressed by Lundstram. The one midfielder that was brave in looking for the ball and trying to make things happen.
Looks like we have us a football team.... The improvement in some players in such a short space of time (no names needed and not just one ) are a testament I think k to the whole set up. At 90 I'm normally walking the rug.... today I was decidedly calm ..
Seen others say that Giles was excellent today, totally agree. He got a back post header in the closing minutes that denied van Ewyk a chance on goal. And looked a real threat going forward. Fair to say that McLoughlin, had he stayed, would not be our best left back this season.
I'd like to think that when Giles pulled Rushworth away he said 'give your head a shake, he'll kill you'/...
I really don't mind physicality in Football, the games gone soft but sadly so have the referees and they'll pull cards all day? Another 4 needless ones and he gets to spend the Saturday up in the stands...It's all relevant
Considering Coventry had same team as last season so no new players to integrate and create an understanding and how much of the pre match talk was about how good they are and will be challenging for promotion, they looked considerably average. Not sure if that was down to us or them
