I'm gonna guess you've never watched him play outside of a few clips. He can do some wonderful tricks, but he just loses his head far too often and does ridiculous things like catch the ball in the penalty area for no reason. He can run to the bye-line and then pass it low across the front of the goal, in fact that's pretty much all he can do, and if there's a wall of defenders between him and the goal, he'll still try to do it. If you play in a 5 with him as LWB he's not so bad, but at LB in a 4 he's a disaster. Once in a green moon he'll look like Messi (blue moons aren't rare enough).
Like I said he’s there for cover and has experience. I’m happy with that. He’s just come off his best season when he was playing for Besiktas, just because he didn’t play well for you doesn’t mean he’ll be a bad player for us. I’ll give him a chance first.
