not looking terrible against a side that'll be up there. Good to get in 0-0, couple of changes and we could get something here.

Another season started and another 45mins without a shot on target. Some positive signs though

Tbh I'll take that, Coventry's midfield are decent, but we're hanging in there, get Gelhardt and Mcburnie on the pitch and we'll look a whole lot better going forward, Slater while being whole hearted hasn't really got the skill levels, and Jospeh while being a wiling runner looks a bit like a rabbit in the headlights at times.

I'll take that for the first half, they are a good side, but we have kept them at arms length for the most part.

Nah, he’s box-to-box. Too frenetic. The sort of the player you want to carry the ball forward and get into the positions Slater is getting in.

You need someone like Seri, Alzate, Grimes etc. who can drop deep and doesn’t panic under pressure. I think the player who has shown he can do that the best out of anyone in pre-season is McCarthy.

Their entire team is entirely the same from last season probably one of the best squads in the division. Encouraging as we will only improve, if we get through this without losing I’ll be impressed. We’ve definitely got a moment in us, if Slater leaves that through ball for Ndala we may be 1-0 up

I think Lundstram looks capable if we can get Zambrano in to come back around Christmas time

Fairly similar performance to last season. Defended with determination if not always dominance.

Struggling to get the ball out of midfield into attacking positions.

Striker getting no service. Kamara occasionally looking promising but inconsistent.

    Giles looking better though.

I'll take that for a first half. Plenty of room for improvement and still got the potential for bringing on Mcburnie and Gelhardt to add some excitement. Slater has had some good moments and some dodgy ends to moves, I don't think at this stage any over the top criticism is fair or helpful.

We would defo benefit from having a player next to lundstram that has instincts to constanly want the ball and is good with it. I would have loved to see Alzate in this team but ah well, 1.5m.

The centre back partnership, although early days, looks very promising. Realistically Gelhardt will play over Slater so if he can get into similar positions you’d like to think he’d have a bit more quality and Joseph has struggled to get into it. Decent half though against a team who were almost promoted last season.
