It isn't pedantry to want to know exactly what it is that you are getting in trouble for. I would suggest it is eminently sensible. Taking the word of a discredited idiot who has shown zero knowledge the subject without question seems rather bizarre to me.

But we are dealing with an intellectual vacuum here where those with knowledge of the subject are precluded from mounting any defence to the "charge". You declared the debate over...what debate? There was no debate.

    "Right, you are in trouble"
    "what for"
    "....you know"
    "oh ok"

Tell me that isn't the biggest crock of **** you ever heard?

Thanks to two fighting kids I didn't read the beeb website properly. <doh>

Seems a bit arse about face being found guilty then only when you appeal you find out what they said you were guilty of.

I know Celtic are in a tough spot here.

Appeal and the spin is very obviously going to be that Celtic are in favour of "sectarian chanting" (or whatever the erroneous term of the day is).

Don't appeal and there is no clarity but Celtic get to create further ambiguity.

We've been asked by our manager and our board to cut out the IRA chants repeatedly (and not just recently but over many years). We've been told by the police that the reason we've been reported was because of IRA chants. We've been fined as a result of IRA chants. Yet it seems your overriding concern is not any damage to the club that has been caused but at finding which particular IRA chants are the 'bad ones'. I actually find it staggering that you don't see this as pedantry. You're completely ****ing missing the point.

I'm in danger of becoming repetitive here but it seems to me very, very obvious that whilst celtic fans bang on about needing 'clarity' rather than simply cutting out singing about the IRA (which would hardly be a difficult task) we'll continue to get in trouble. How is that not clear?

As for 'the debate' about the pros and cons of IRA chants, we've had it on here a gazillion times. You've contributed to it yourself a few times <laugh>.

I've been reading this site for a while, and have just decided to join. As a lifelong Celtic fan, am sick to the teeth of those who continue to sing these songs at our games. These are most likely the same idiots who point the finger at Rangers and other teams when they sing distasteful songs. Instead of this continual tit-for-tat nonsense, it's time these so called fans moved on from this, and stopped besmirching our good name. If you want to be a "rebel" whatever the hell that means to you, bugger off over the sea to Ireland and be one, and leave us in peace.

Of course you will agree with me then that the songs can continue in domestic competitions because no "damage" can be caused to the club?

It might seem to you that my overriding concern is to find out the "bad" songs, it is to find out exactly what the charge is. You accepting the vague summation of an idiot cop is absolutely astounding.

I would agree with you 100%, but then we'd both be wrong.

Just because you, in the minority, are deluded enough to think you are right, does not mean you are. Sing all the songs you want, just not at the football where it is unwanted by the majority.

Present a proper argument to tell me why you are right and we can discuss it. Right now sensible discussion is impossible because you are being emotive.

If you have been following the discussion, you should be well prepared to back up your claim to being in the majority.

You know full well the argument - stop singing the songs. Am pretty certain the majority of people would agree this. However, am not going to be drawn into a long drawn out discussion on this. I wouldn't go into a battle of wits against half an army.

Wise move. That **** would bore a full army to death.

If only you'd been older during the troubles webs. The RA could have used you to bore the British Army out of Norn Iron.

Rebel, perhaps you should stop singing any song that glorifies the IRA in any form. Until you realise that the majority of Celtic fans despise being tarred with the same brush as you, then Celtic as a football club will suffer.

Rangers have the same problem. A minority of small minded, ill educated idiots believing in a history from over 100 years ago.

It's pathetic you are defending the singing of IRA songs, just as it would be pathetic if I ever defended any of the bigoted ****e some Rangers fans sing.

Explain to me how the problem Rangers have is comparable to this situation? We have seen legislators shift the goalposts to try and make it so.... That doesn't mean it is. Nor will it ever mean it is. Desperately shoehorning concerns about our support to lie alongside those you hold about yours is illogical and irrational.

I think the only person who finds it astounding is you. We've been told repeatedly IRA songs are not wanted, we've been charged, we've been fined. Why is it soooooooooo impossibly difficult to get the point that IRA songs will no longer be tolerated? I don't give a flying ****e whether we were reported because of IRA song a, b, c or d being sung. Just cut them out - ALL of them.

As for your point about domestic competitions, no I'd utterly disagree with you. Just because we weren't fined does not mean that no 'damage' was done. That you're oblivious to that fact is abundantly clear. Our club's name is being dragged through the mud because people will not accept that they shouldn't sing certain songs. The reporting may be exaggerated, it may be ill-informed, in some circumstances it may even be biased (dare I say it) but the fact is that it's celtic fans that are providing the ammunition in the first place.

So you expect me to accept that because UEFA have fined Celtic for **** knows what, all rebel songs should cease (ignoring the conjecture that the two songs cited are not rebel songs).

    I understand your point.

I also understand that you think that the club can be damaged because other people are ignorant.

    I get that.

I vehemently disagree. I have aleays said that I am happy to revisit my position if and when Celtic are punished. As soon as i find out what we are punished for, i will revisit that position. I won't have you, or anyone else railroad me with vague notions. Do you understand that position? Do. You accept it is not unreasonable?
