Well we have to get the games in. And are we really sure it is the squad management to blame for Dan Neil's position? Will he have been offered the same as Dan Ballard? Or Eli? Should he be offered more? Hoary old ground really, but as much as I like him, Dan has to commit. And, I would guess here, that he has to start thinking for himself.
I think your point about man management if fair. I would not have wanted to back to back games like this. Divisive imo. Not sure Neil is relevant here though. It seems like neither party sees compromise as in thei favour. Whilst that continues they must assume he is not in their plans. Only the club or Dan can resolve that. Back to the second string lads. There are some in their who will be unhappy undoubtedly. Footballers want to play.
I personally don't like that he hasn't mixed it up more earlier in preseason as it's harder to play well and stake that claim when you're surrounded by U21s and bomb squad potential. I understand his reasons for not though (connections amongst the new lads) as much as it wouldn't be my preference.
He's hardly got the squad to mix it up tho. Other than Neil and Roberts there's no one else that should get a run out with the 1st teamers. Neil did it once and the team was shocking (not blaming Neil for that just saying in general). There's talk that Roberts is still get eased in after his calf injury. Roberts also already has a relationship with Hume and Mayenda who play his side so it's probably been more beneficial to get Talbi minutes with them
I think its all but confirmed tbf, theyve posted all the first teamers getting on a flight to germany
See this is the part I definitely agree with. The 'first team' played at the SoL last week, the B team haven't yet so they need to.
'Sunderland have opened talks with PSG over defender Lucas Hernandez. With Zabarnyi in, and PSG already stacked with Marquinhos, Beraldo, Kimpembe and Pacho, Hernandez’s game time looks limited. Sunderland are ready to offer €20M or explore a loan move.' Fake apparently mate, I never look at these things unless they start to look serious.
None of these players are being excluded, they're not being shunned. This is serious now, it's only a week until we have to play in the Premier League ... ... if players want to be in the first team squad they know exactly what they have to do.
I can understand why people are bothered, but I dont really think it's that much of a big deal. We'll hopefully have a brand new centre half playing next week with no pre season games with us. Doesn't really matter imo.
