    Did you know...

In the early 1970s, Sepp Blatter was elected president of the World Society of Friends of Suspenders, an organization which tried to stop women replacing suspender belts with pantyhose.

Blatter incurred criticism from female footballers in 2004 when he suggested that women should "wear tighter shorts and low cut shirts... to create a more female aesthetic" and attract more male fans, remarks that were apparently ridiculed in the press.

    Bellend Blatter
The Guardian newspaper seems to think the rumour started on Wikipedia. It seems that someone - probably an angry England fan annoyed at Blatter's opposition to goal-line technology - vandalised his biography on Wiki to list his name as 'Joseph 'Sepp' Bellend Blatter'. It appears that while the article was still vandalised, the South African government used his Wiki bio for info used on their webpage detailing his award and consequently twice listed 'Bellend' as his middle name (unlikely South Africans would be aware of the phrase 'bellend' I suppose). It's also been listed as his middle name on some other offical site also copying Wiki's biography (or the material on the SA government website). The SA government website has corrected their mistake but the Guardian have put up a screen capture of the original page. I guess you'd have to be British to appreciate why this is really quite funny, if a little immature!

Well I remember him scoring penalties against Barnsley, Doncaster and the Scunts last season, so I make it 4 (out of 17 goals for us) :)

Call me very immature if you like but this isn't quite funny, it's ****ing hilarious.

Am I imagining it or wasn't he actually introduced as Bellend Blatter once as well at some award do?

Didn't know that, maybe. Just copied it all from Wiki.

Just shows how local to us the "Bellend" bit was thought, a great choice of a word!

Yep forgot about those ones, still 4 in 17 hardly holds a strong argument for most of Matty's goals been from the penalty spot!

    I get it. It’s a bit like:

Q - Why did the Slovakian chicken (with Vietnamese blood on his mother’s side and a bit of Icelandic blood from a mysterious distant ancestor) cross the road?

A – To get to the other side.

Maybe it's time we set up a thread on the Lesta board with a hyperlink to this thread? :)

Don't worry, they've seen it, the poster of this article had the cheek to complain about City fans coming on their board, so I posted the link.

I think we've wound them up enough for now, they're avoiding us for the time being.

    One more thing before.....

"Beelzebub, another name for the devil, is Hebrew for "Lord of the Flies", and this is where the book's title comes from".
