Younger players would include I imagine: Hughes Drameh Belloumi Joseph Kamara Puerta (maybe) Laalaoui (maybe) All of those have the potential to go for much bigger fees than they signed for if they have good/really good seasons.
No but if the owner said we have to tighten our belt and get our house in order I’d fully support him and the decision We are postponing that reckoning That’s all
I don’t think there were many if any better available on a free Syd? We didn’t stay up on points we stayed up on goal difference so we needed goals… something he has done at this level and higher whilst coming into his prime years
I would agree too Chazz but without adding real quality we would’ve gone down on a whimper with the squad we had a few weeks back which would’ve seen us in a much worse spot
Back / available for selection after the first international break by all accounts - but back up to full speed and playing as they were is another matter
I think it's good management that we have/are bringing in new wingers. Let's us ease in Belloumi and Millar without too much pressure and not expecting them to play twice a week until fully fit.
FWIW I hope we remain under restrictions for the remainder of the season. Wages may be high to some of these players but thatis offset by the fact we aren’t adding to the £22m out of transfer fees owed. We are building a solid squad capable of staying up with relative ease. Solid and safe season ahead with the hopes of reducing debt to Mr Acun.
Wait though, didn’t this discussion start because McBurnie is a decent signing based on the circumstances and we should praise Acun/the club for that? The reason we are in these circumstances is because of Acun/the club. Yes it’s good but the circumstances were created by themselves.
Imagine a first-6-months Omur in this team. Someone need to get to the bottom of what’s going on there with him. He’s far too good and expensive a player to be shifting out on loan just because.
There's the bit I don't understand, it wasn't Acun who said we needed to tighten our belt but it was the EFL. We cleaned out the overpaid rubbish and got a whole load of others on big wages all under the scrutiny of the EFL. Making me think it wasn't the overall amount of money that was the problem for the EFL but something else or a combination of things.
Not sure if you heard the Baz interview but McBurnie isn’t coming to be playing in a mid table team. Frigan is nailed on to be next through the door if the ban is lifted or suspended.
They’ll play a few minutes but it’ll be 6 weeks later when they up to proper match speed - long term injuries do this - first game will be the adrenaline one then they usually fall off a cliff a few games .
The only disappointment for me in that scenario would be us losing our shot at Zambrano and Frigan. Both of those strike me as players with huge potential resale.
Frigan doesn’t make sense in the short term though. Not sure without selling someone we could afford to get him. Zambrano seemingly could still be happening despite the restrictions
