They shouldn’t have bothered playing nice. They didn’t in golf, didn’t in boxing. Still they have put Newcastle back on the map and for that we will always be hugely grateful.
Having us in the champions league is surely a bigger win for them, on-one watches their god awful league anyway and the WCC was utter tosh.
Thiaw to Como, agreed at £21m. Thiaw to Newcastle £30m+. Jackson interesting Newcastle, £80m. Jackson to Bayern, £48m.
Jackson for £48 million would be a no brainer. Thiaw - Change of manager who wants to keep him so the price has gone up. Yet begs the question why we didn't bid earlier.
We know why, there’s no urgency from the leadership, poor Eales should’ve been replaced forever ago, Mitchell should never have been there, blah blah. Thiaw was looked at and liked 12 months ago.
It’s poor how unplanned this window has been. I mean we’ve sold our goalkeeper to traffords old side, how did we **** that one up that badly? How long does it take to explore costs of a deal, are we doing it by letter? Is Royal Mail to blame?
Everyone blaming the Saudis for being slow but surely someone has communicated with them about pace. Don't they just need to sign off budget and then let the professionals do their job?
YAR has to authorise everything. That's why they should appoint a trusted person with authority to sign off without the need to contact Saudi everytime.
I think staveley knew how to manage them. They have really archaic processes - needing wet copy docs, actual stamps as well as signatures, etc. Eales hasn’t got a clue how to manage up it would seem.
Radcliffe doesn’t sign off on players, Mansour doesn’t, Abramovic didn’t, it was the people in the job 24/7 getting it done. Someone needs to grow a pair and wise YAR up as to why this doesn’t work and probably underlines how bad Eales has actually been.
