I recall us being linked to Williams previously so I don't think he's a terrible signing with or without the embargo in the sense of his ability, I just don't love the idea of signing a bad egg like that. Connolly came with his own problems but they were all (as far as I know) self-inflicted not impacting the community which is what makes me uneasy about Williams. Still, people deserve second chances I suppose.
Ffs you can obviously read i used him as an example that players get into situations sometimes not there own doing after Drew said IF.
And you can read too. Equating the situation Coyle got into with Williams speeding in his car is ****ing bonkers.
It’s risk mitigation though. Yes, Coyle got into a scrape but he’s not spent a year out of football and he’s far more of a known quantity. Whatever way you spin it, Williams is a risk. I’d have paid money for a player who has been playing and hasn’t got a conviction if I had the chance to fill a problem position. That doesn’t mean he’s a bad signing or he’s not worth the risk. But given the chance I wouldn’t have done it with a problem position. Zambrano I also wouldn’t be relying on to fill a key role with doubts over a member of the first XI already there.
As far as I was led to believe, there'd been some on going niggle between Coyle's brother and the big unit that eventually nutted him?
