Flip the 1 and the 3, and then double it. Then we are closer to what we should ask for, if we need to sell.
You’d like to think a lad who has been at the club since he was 8 years old would not act up. I understand he might be keen on the move, but staying here would probably be better for him for this season
The fact we are playing hard ball over Dibling, who only has 2 years left on his contract, bodes very well for Fernandes. If we want £45m+5 & a sell on for Dibling, then surely we will be asking close to £60m for Fernandes?
Rumoured that we want a club record fee for him so that would be approaching 80mill. Given how firm we've been with Dibling's valuation I can probably believe that we won't even entertain offers below 60mill.
The hubris here is quite shocking really. They really must still think they are of the same level as their neighbours
Which might be why there are apparently a dozen clubs interested and no apparent bids. They must be assuming like Everton that we intend to cave in the final week of the window
I was surprised Dibling was happy/willing to go all of last season on his academy wage having not been willing to sign a new contract with us on first team wages. Probably makes him agitating for the move all the more likely as he's not going to want to sit here for another season on that wage and he clearly doesn't want to sign a new contract here otherwise he'd have done it by now.
Then he’s been badly advised by his agents and still is being. They should have leveraged our 100m price tag to get him a bumper deal. The sort of one that might have made it actually hard for us to keep him upon relegation. When your stock is highest and all that
His current contract actually makes it easier for us to keep hold of him as clearly his wages aren't an issue in the Championship. So if no one meets our asking price we will quite happily keep him and he'll want to play football rather than sulk or go on strike.
I can't help but think his form at the end of the season hindered a lot of things, he was pretty terrible the last few months. I've seen people defend that he didn't fit Juric's system but the really good players still find ways to shine but Dibling fully disappeared in to the background and for a long time.
Ok then, that was always allowed. Always gets me when fans of other teams or the media moan about this like 'oh their valuation is ridiculous they have to lower it because we say so', like we owe them. Pay up or **** off, he's our player and we set the terms, we don't have to sell him at this point even if this will probably be the peak of his value for us.
