love this!! I am getting very very excited for this season…I have a feeling we are on the verge of something special
Well, it was a very long walk. Turned out nice again though hasn’t it? Been reading off & on these past weeks, just not posting. When it’s Amin of all people (along with 2 or 3 others) telling you that “it’s worse on here than on facebook” then it says it all. Some of the abuse, the hysterics, the doom-mongering and so on has been beyond ridiculous, beyond pathetic. And now we see the flip floppers. Fair play to the small handful who remained level headed (you know who you are). I was going to wait to post until after the hearing appeal verdict is known, but there’s no point waiting as things have been pretty obvious all along, at least to anyone with a sensible, level head, and now I don’t want to distract from the football on Saturday, so here goes ….. I readily admit our owner has made mistakes during his tenure (who hasn’t), not least recently allowing cash flow / timing and administration / technical errors to land us with an unnecessary embargo. However, the ridiculous dogs abuse he’s received from some is disgraceful. Our owner was written off as supposedly skint, lost all interest, selling us, sending us into administration, can’t afford to pay the players, has us nailed on relegation certs before a ball is kicked, never learns, went **** or bust in 23/24 and now we’re bust, pretends each window he’s going to sign us a decent striker but never does, never gets business done early, can’t afford new kits for this season, identifies & makes pretty much every signing himself, is a charlatan, blah blah blah. All utter BS. Yep, the same owner who has now brought us SJ and supported him with not only 3 of his own coaches but also a 4th highly experienced English coach for good measure, added MH to bring the additional experience needed to scouting & recruitment, moved AD to improve the academy pathway, had safe standing trial installed, sorted the ridiculous exit by the corner gates issue, kept prices attractive yet again, had already brought us a mix of quality & experience in Pandur, Hughes, Crooks, Matazo, Millar, Belloumi, Kamara, Drameh, (arguably Palmer, Egan, Giles, Puerta), oversees a refocus of the Academy, allowing us to bring in exciting talent with a real prospect of breaking through in future years (McCarthy, Brown, TSF, Tinsdale, Myers, Shehu, Carter, Parker, Jagielka, Okike, Moore, ….). And now this summer has supported us further, allowing JD & MH to get on with CONTINUING the change that had already clearly started (not as a result of this embargo) in bringing in a great mix of needed quality, nous, experience, a spine, with signings of McBurnie, Gelhardt (hopefully), Lundstram, Ndala, Ajayi, Famewo, Williams (if he chooses us), plus depth with Philps, Akintola and potential with Destan, Laalaoui and Zambrano (last 2 hopefully). We’ve made some serious signings these past months. At the same time shifting, if we’re honest, a lot of average to ‘dead wood’ players and past mistakes along the way that needed shifting (bar the odd one arguably if you want to be really picky); not only reducing the squad as was needed but freeing up wages and even bringing fees in. Our squad is being transformed, from the touch line through defence, midfield and attack. But yet he never learns eh. And it’s still only early August, with 2 or 3 more incomings almost certain. Just a pity we have to wait a few months still to see the real quality & impact of Matazo, Millar and Belloumi. All that said, I think we will get well beat on Saturday (realism). I’m not one of those on here who are already getting giddy and childishly carried away when they've only a matter of days ago been down in the depths of (self imposed) despair. I hope the team surprise me, but I’d say it’s too big a challenge too soon for us. But as the season wears on, we will be very strong and will do well, no doubt. Time now for reflection and some serious humble pie eating by quite a few on here. One or two have had the decency to at least have a nibble already. The owner was never skint, never lost interest, only ever had passion and best intentions for our club, gave & gives us hope, but just made honest mistakes (he or those under him?) and puts things right with his own money. He needed questioning for the silly mistake causing unnecessary self-imposed concern and hardship this summer, no doubt, but that should have been the extent of it. Time to recognise and give credit for the continued ambition, commitment and what is trying to be achieved don’t you think. May well go off for another long walk now as I’m not sure it’s worth it on here anymore. #UT(F)T
Credit where it's due, embargo aside, we've had a great summer and go into the season full of positivity. Acun has made loads of mistakes but I've said it time and time again, he does mean well and does care. He's so eager to be loved that he makes mistakes but we're going to surprise a lot of people this season. I just don't see us in a relegation scrap at all and I'm actually optimistic we'll have a good season. UTT.
I think this is far too early. We’ve made some decent progress in this window but there’s only really two that I’m really impressed by - McBurnie and Lundstram. The others could be good if they stay fit and/or fulfil the promise they show. We’ve seen that a lot before. But we’re still in a fee restriction as it stands, we still have an unknown manager to the English leagues and we still don’t know the full picture of the finances. Promising yes but let’s be honest, it’s very far from sorted.
Fair play to the small handful who remained level headed (you know who you are). Small as they are, at least you recognise my contributions.
Even with our injuries, lack of depth and lack of strikers Selles had us playing stale football but would have finished around 14th if our form was spread across the season. We have a better squad, returning players and at first look a decent manager. I’d expect at worst to match the 14th place finish.
I've got it as an earworm now, ever since I read his bloody post. So unplug the jukebox and do us all a favor...

before the season starts fresh players, fresh kit, fresh manager, fresh starts technically all 24 championship clubs can get promoted this season and get relegated we can save the realism for when we lose games but for now its all the way HMS piss the league and its boarding now
Yes especially the bit where he said he was fitter than ever and takes better care of is body now and that he learnt a lot by being in Spain. No he did not play with Ronaldo but he must have played against him and similar players that have that ethos and said to himslefl thats the sort of metality a player like me needs to extend my playing days well into my mid 30's. Very wll spoken an not only that what he said bodes well for his time at City.
Soz. It was on a music channel this morning and I found myself singing McBurnie e e e e e McBurnie e e e e e just thought it was an easy tune. I can’t stop singing it either.
