Harsh on him, you're missing the point mate, we have two available strikers, Piroe and the German guy, that's it. We have to have the worst option in the entire PL most clubs have double the amount of players who can play as a striker. It's not aimed at Piroe being garbage but we have limited choice and if the German guy gets injured we have nobody to use or bring on fresh legs
And you’re completely right with that assessment, I don’t disagree. It was more the comment that most championship clubs have better forwards, that’s what I considered harsh on Piroe.
Okay we start with Piroe and if he gets leggy we have one option, Nmecha. Piroe has never played at the top level, Nmecha has but he has a terrible injury record. If either picks up a knock we are screwed. Nmecha in the last 4 seasons he has played 63 games and scored 16 goals, all our hopes are that he hits the form of 20/21 because the other 8 seasons he has done nothing. It's highly possible he would struggle to get into a top 4 Championship starting 11 I thought he was joining for the cup games and as 4th choice. Piroe has a market value of £18m - He would not make the bench of over half the PL teams
A) I think we will sign someone and hope the club are calmer than the fans and spend wisels & B) We have Harry Gray. If they are good enough they are old enough and if we want to hang on to our best youngsters we have to give them a chance (Archie made 28 appearances for Spuds last year).
Current state of play clubs main striker options Arsenal - Gyokeres Aston Villa - Watkins Bournemouth - Semenyo Brentford - Thiago Brighton - Welback Burnley - Broja Chelsea - Delano Crystal Palace - Mateta Everton - Beto Fulham - Jimenez Us - Piroe or Nmecha Liverpool - Ekitike Man City - Haaland Scum - Sesko Newcastle - Isak N’Forest - Wood Sunderland - Guiu Tottenham - Tel West Ham - Wilson Wolves - Larsen Therefore bar Spurs (who will likely buy someone), Brentford & Burnley I’d say we have the worst/most unproven attacking starter for sure.
Brentford signed Thiago for in excess of £30m and he was out last season with a bad injury. They also have Gustavo Nunes an unknown quantity, it looks like they are signing Arnaud Kalimuendo according to Romano, a very good striker by the looks of it. Either way, they are actively putting in offers for a new striker Burnley have Ashley Barnes, Michael Obafemi, Lyle Foster, Zian Flemming, Zeki Amdouni - No idea how good they are, certainly more options than we have You've also missed loads off, Sunderland can pick from Guiu, Semedo, Isidor and Maynenda
I've lost my calm mate, Everton is a crucial game and it's okay for reports to keep coming out we are asking for this player and that player, why bother asking, if I ask the price of anything it means I am interested in buying, it's good enough for me to purchase
I’ve agreed with you that our options are extremely limited but name me a championship forward you would take today to strengthen our striker options?
You are altering what I said, I did not say I want to sign a Championship striker. I said several clubs have better options than us. Look at Sheffield United's selection which is Thomas Cannons, Tyrese Campbell, Ryan One, Louie Barry, Louie Marsh, Christian Nwachukwu
Mehdi Taremi apparently we are faourites to land the 33 year old, I had to Wiki him to be honest, underwhelming, if this who we have waited 6 weeks to sign then someone needs sacking
I’m questioning “more” options rather than “better”. What’s the point in naming these forwards if you wouldn’t take any of them at Leeds?
Okay, as things stand, I would happily swap our two strikers for the Sheffield United ones as they have more/better options, I would swap them for Southampton and Ipswich ones as well, this is our two for the better/more options on offer at those three clubs Are they good enough, no of course not but as things stand we are getting relegated if we are relying on the two we have for the entire season
Makes you wonder why Farke buried Bamford before wed signed a proper replacement. We all know he's done anyway but would have kept the fans a little more on board for a while longer thinking he'd be a third striker option for twenty minutes in games. Could have dumped him when or if we got a proper replacement
Exactly, imagine one of the strikers picks up an injury before the Everton game, we will be going into it with no striker on the bench, I still can't get my head around how the club are allowing us to go into our first game with just two available strikers
Blimey, I can smell your panic. If their options were better (if you mean as individual players), they’d have been bought by premier league teams. Citing Southampton and Ipswich, two of the worst teams to have “graced” the PL reeks of desperation. Again I agree we need to strengthen our forward line and confident we will but that doesn’t mean just buy anyone.
