Thing is we need to keep our options open. Im assuming Muniz is our number 1 target however it’s looking like Sesko is going to scum therefore Hojland is potentially surplus. Next step depends on what Isak does, if he stays then it doesn’t really change anything however if he goes to Liverpool then Newcastle need a new number 9. At the moment I can only really see Muniz, Hojland & Mitrovic being the closest proven strikers that seem attainable. We won’t be getting Mitro as he’s earning too much (Others may also think that too) so if Newcastle decide on Muniz then we need another option so I’m assuming this is us exploring it. I think for Hojland wages would be fine, if he’s good enough he’d start (Pretty decent goal return last season), wouldn’t need to move house and seems to be in our price range.
I think the club now realise what most of us did 3 weeks ago, Muniz ain't coming, Fulham won't sell until they get a replacement which they're struggling with, then for no less than £50m is the line. I don't see Hojland coming either, he'll have CL clubs wanting him. I think we're really going to struggle with getting a no9.
If things are going pear shaped in October, just remember its not Farke that's responsible for the recruitment mess but Im sure hell have to shoulder the blame, probably with his job. This needs getting right in next few days
We’re all kind of focusing on a new striker, we did get the out of contract German but he has a terrible injury record and as it stands, it’s him or Piroe which has to be the worst option in the entire division, there are better Championship options not alone PL Then we’re forgetting we have 1 RB and 1 LB and Byram who can’t do a month without breaking down as cover, it also needs addressing. We have an abundance of CB and CM options, far stronger than last season but wide attacking and a 10 or AM we have James, Gnonto, Ramazani wide, worse than last season. Aaronson as the sole option at 10 - It really needs addressing, I’ve been optimistic and supportive until the last few days, it needs addressing with 2-3 quick signings or we’re going to be in a relegation fight from day one, worse still we cut get cut adrift by 3-4 points and that will make recruitment all the harder
Think you’re being a little harsh on Piroe, he was either top or one of the top championship strikers in most of the seasons he played. If we are going to take a chance on championship forward then he would be the obvious choice.
