Biggest one in terms of posts and seeing as this is a minnow compared to OTR that’s quite impressive.
Wasn’t sure where to post this but this is brilliant! Apologies if posted already https://x.com/onlyfoolssafc/status/1928474922659021080?s=46&t=Jj5glQEDfviR5qBOwb72dg
Excellent....The big thing I've taken from all the video's is the number of youngsters who were there taking it all in. As time will inevitably take us oldies it is heart warming to see the club is in such good hands being handed down to this next generation....magnificent.
I've seen many comments that swathes of our support were 'jacking it in', not renewing and we'd 'lose an entire generation of support'. The demand for tickets, the amount who went without them and the scenes around London would suggest that's nonsense. To some degree the club has left the pessimists trailing in their wake and struggling to catch up with the club. Some people deliberately ignore the massive improvements in the infrastructure of the club and the way it presents itself. SAFC made Sheff Utd look quite a shabby outfit with their match coverage, PR, etc ... cheap scarves plonked on Wembley seats just one example. Once the ticketing, away fan location and catering is sorted there'll be very little for people to moan about. (Who am I kidding.)
That bloke Wayne Doran, who made the video above was one of the biggest naysayers of them all - have a look at some of his videos before the playoffs Biggest hypocrite in our fan base
Exactly mate, it’s as if hoping for the best and being wrong carries financial penalties. People who quote nothing but stats and bookies odds are missing the point … … perhaps they don’t even know what the point is. I always chuckle when people say, ‘We won and no one is happier than me to be proved wrong.’ Errr, yes but I was happier than you before the match, during the match and probably after the match … … with the added bonus that you were proved wrong
It's only TEN days until we take our place in the Premier League after EIGHT years dragging our sorry arses around the backstreets of Accrington and Cheltenham. I really don't think it's sunk in yet, perhaps it's because of the massive drama of the play-offs or the big noise around the transfer window but this is all about to explode ... it really is the lull before the storm and it's like we can't really believe it's happening. But a week on Saturday the SOL will be packed out, the noise will be incredible and we'll be welcoming home the lads who made us proud at Wembley. The countdown started for me this afternoon when I started to book my trains, contact people for a pint and pull out my clothes for the weekend. Whatever happens the club, in my opinion, couldn't have done much much more and I'll make the absolute most of this season. Of course we'll be nervous, wondering how we'll do, how the new lads will manage and whether we can start the season off with a win ... ... but there also has to be a time when we're just a group of supporters, meeting up for a pint, flying the colours and going daft. Time to clear the slate, forget our disputes and just look forward to being Sunderland together. Over the last few years we've been down, battered and bruised but somehow managed to keep going. Together we're stronger so let's show anyone who comes to the SOL what we have that they don't, time to rise up again and feel proud. It's starting to kick in now so let's not forget who we are, remember those we've lost and how we pass on our passion to the next generation ... ... Haway the Lads, let's do ourselves proud!
Nice one Smug, trains booked for West Ham and me and lad buzzing for it. It really is a new dawn and something to enjoy without worrying about what might happen in 2027 or whatever. Sport is fickle, this is class, Haway me bonny lads!!!
Nice one! Transpennine 9.33 from Edinburgh although we will jump on down the line a stop or two most likely. What you doing? We'll probably get a train to Sunderland and then Metro back for return after match. We'll be on 7.27 from NCL after match. Can't wait, despite Hearts performance, have feeling that was different and team will compete in PL
I'm going through all the options so I'll keep you posted mate. I'll either stay in Edinburgh Friday night and Sunday morning or get the Leven train over on Saturday morning. I fancy making a weekend of it, see you soon
Nice one, will keep you looped when driving and down and back in the day. Fancied a pint first day back and tickets cheap enough. Lad likes idea of the train so will like as not check that out miles in advance and see if we can't get down and back for £30 the pair of us. Be rude not to
Smug, I don't post often but many moons ago you gave my then very young Son (6) a glimmer of hope about a potential takeover. I'm pretty sure I posted about it then to be honest. However... As you say in TEN days time he gets to see our club in the top flight for the first time he can remember. His first season ticket was our first season in L1..... I can't wait to take him this season but more so can't wait to see my Dad walk and talk him through the build up and then watch their first Premier League game together. They have done us proud. Enjoy the game and occasion mate. ⚽
Mid week be the ones where car is the way for sure and also when engineering works. Anyway I'm boring myself, I'll let you know if driving basically
That's a wonderful post mate, really made my night. Your three generations, off to see the Lads, is what it's all about ... ... hope you have a great time Don. Let us know how it goes and send a photo if you can. All the best mate, great to hear from you.
I honestly believe the westham game is so important. Not just for the three points but the opportunity for us as a club to set our stall out for this coming season. A win just keeps that upwards momentum going including the feel good factor were all still experiencing. Don't get me wrong I don't believe survival is won or lost in that first game. I just feel this is a massive opportunity to start on the right foot. Or I'm talking ****e haha
A win would be fantastic, but the truth is it will probably be a cagey affair and a bit of a yardstick to see where we really are. Seasons are not decided on the first game but I do agree that a victory could have a galvanising effect on some. I for one am just immensely proud of the club for what they have achieved and how they have achieved it, and believe we are showing other clubs what is possible.
