Up at the crack of dawn today, went for a 3mile stroll just to keep the body moving and to not guilt trip myself later when I have 10 pints and a pizza

I know what you mean, I start off at 29/30 seconds per length and feel like I’m gasping but once I’ve slowed to 35/36 I’m steady with the 3 strokes and a breath routine. This is all with a normal digital stopwatch mind so may be a bit out but I’m going ok to be fair.

Been wearing the new watch to bed to check my sleep, and see if the Mrs claims about potential sleep apnea are accurate.

Watch says maybe with oxygen saturation dipping below 90% for small periods of time during the night.

All other parts of my sleep are fine (rated excellent).

Guess it might be worth contacting the GP to do a home sleep study.

I’ve tried cbd drinks, think they’re called trip and Sainsburys sell them, fall asleep quicker and sleep deeper but still wake up at the same time, not sure if they’ll help but worth a go for £2

Never needed anything like that. Watch reckons my sleep is excellent, too 2% of my age range.

Just that 02 saturation. Need to wear it a bit more to get it to tell me full sleep apnea calculations.

Lifted weights for 30 years on and off, in my early 50s now and struggle with my left shoulder, I have an awful habit of sleeping on my left arm and sometimes it takes days for the ache to move on. I have reduced what I lift now but putting more reps in, the weight started creeping on last year but thats down to sitting on my arse all day at work and probably drinking more than I used to. Motivation is my weakness, after 9 hours at work I am finding it harder to pull on the gym gear, 1st time ever last week my blood pressure was raised, I am determined not to let it get any worse. I love the strong ciders and curries on a weekend so going to cut back on all that and get some more walking in, I love walking but again its motivation that stops me. If I get in from work and sit down thats me for the evening, its lazy and it has to stop. Any motivation tips will be welcomed with open arms

Going before work if your gym opens early enough is the best advice I can give, walk on your dinner break too, even just park slightly further away than normal to get some steps in, little things that will create good habits

For me the only way I can make sure I do "something" (currently I`m on the cross trainer a lot - 15k every weekday evening) I have to do it as soon as I get in from work - don`t let my arse touch the sofa...home, say hi, get changed, go and do it. My lad tells me that the method is wrong for "making gains" but he`s all over his gym and his physique, I`m just pleased to be doing "something"...

That would be me, that's why I have started to get it done in the morning. If I left it to after work, life takes over and my excuses are there.

My gym isnt open before work, I might start walking before work, I do feel sluggish on a morning and that might give me a kickstart to my day that I need

Might be worth picking a new gym? Morning training really does sort your head out for the day. Does me anyway. Makes me so much more productive.

I wish I could do bilateral breathing. I’ve tried god knows how many times but really struggle. So it’s two strokes and breathe to the left.

There’s nothing wrong with though, at least it gets you swimming mate. May be you could do 3 every now and again to switch sides then continue to do 2 on another side. Sometimes I need to catch a breath and do 2 for a couple of strokes then revert back to 3. I’m in no way an expert mind, I only started in January with breaststroke and last 6 weeks front crawl.

Would be a big move for me that but it might be what I need to do or at least try it, been training in the same gym for almost 20 years now. Got a lot of friends there that I enjoy spending gym time with. I start work at 8 and always up by 6 so nothing stopping me apart from my own routine really.

Yeah, yesterday was my first swim with it and it’s just what I needed. I’m finding new features in it all the time and it’s great when you use it with the app. However I missed my first 200m by not pressing start properly. :emoticon-0102-bigsm

I did martial arts training in my youth. One of the best advice I had, which I've followed throughout my life....."when you wake up,get up!" It's the best time of the day.

after the heart attack and stopping smoking, i shot up to 16 stone, soon found it was not a good weight for me as even tying my shoe laces had me struggling...got an exercise bike and walked the dogs every night...started with 'round the block' and increased to a wander round the village, dropped down to 14st 4lbs and i am happy with that.

now i know this does not sound a lot but owing to other problems and the meds i learned that doing what you can is a damn sight better than doing nowt...the spring.summer has seen me 'jobbing about' in the garden building a pond and wildflower corner and adding a gazebo to sit by the pond, again, nowt massive or fantastic but it kept me busy.

Swimming is my thing. Started aboutr 18 months ago after a minor health scare. My aim is to do 5k per week (usually across 4 sessions per week). Absolutely love it, having wasted many years and a lot of money on gym memberships that never get used. Swimming doesn't feel like a chore - Load up some tunes on my bone-conducting earphones then crack on. Doesn't feel like exercise or something I'd get bored of. Now swimming twice as fast as I did when i started...
