Sell the club? We've qualified for the champions league twice in 3 years and won a trophy for the 1st time in 70 years. I mean, were struggling to get players ahead of Liverpool Chelsea and Manchester United.... A few years ago we were losing out to QPR. The PIF are the only reason we're having these better days.
Shame everyone under the sun knows what sort of figures we were offering for Ekitike and Sesko. Going to make it difficult negotiating good prices for the likes of Goncalo Ramos, Watkins or even Wissa.
There's something very strange about this but you're all flapping over missing out on a few players to the biggest clubs going. I suspect it's due to bottom feeder clubs fans enjoying it too, but they aren't doing anything even remotely as ambitious. Newcastle have big money to spend and there's plenty of top players they can get before the window closes and beyond. Jesus Christ man this fanbase is played like a flute...
Nah, It's just the ridiculous inflation caused by years of PL clubs overspending. Liverpool had to pay up for Kerkez, Wirtz and Ekitike, Man Utd had to pay up for Cunha, Mbeumo and now Sesko, Chelsea for JP etc.
It's gone crazy. But the cartel have to do it as the only way they can stop other clubs breaking into the circle. We will get there I'm sure. Project 2030.
One thing people need it accept is that Romano etc were simply correct in what they reported. People seemed to think they were just making it up to annoy them. Man United just hadn't bid yet.
This window in particular has highlighted the advantages the big 6 have now. The players are aware that there's only really a handful of clubs they need it be at for any longterm success. The big 6 don't even need more money and they have that too. Newcastle are a stepping stone club for players they big 6 don't fancy at the time Newcastle are buying. These are just the facts and nothing is going to change it, so perhaps just be grateful we're a stepping stone club and not just one of the completely irrelevant clubs anymore.
Spurs have won 1 trophy in 17 years Arsenal have 1 fa cup since arteta joined and haven’t won the league in 20 years Manchester United have won a fa cup and league cup in last 5/6 years I think - somewhat success I’ll admit. Not really sustained success from 3 of the 6 clubs you’re talking about though. Newcastle have won something as recently as spurs and are in same European comp this year and have won something and been in CL more recently than Manchester United. Newcastle are an attentive club but just seems you have absolutely no structure at the top at the moment. Liverpool had to get the upper management right first and once that was in place combined with a great manager managed to attract great players but also got players that weren’t at that top quality yet that the top top clubs weren’t looking at. Plenty very good players out there that can be picked up for 30/40m that the likes of Liverpool arsenal etc aren’t after (would include Chelsea but they’re buying anything with a birthday post 2000) but you need to scouting and recruitment team in place and sporting director all singing from same page to make sure that works.
At the moment absolutely. But hopefully over time and with more success we won't just be a stepping stone. We'll become one of the clubs big name players want to come to. But agree, we are nowhere near that tipping point yet.
How many clubs have won trophies since psr came in? In the case of Leicester what followed? Liverpool already had sufficient revenues, so while they did things right it wouldn't have been so straight fwd otherwise. Newcastles owners have done exceptionally well imo. Big 6 fans simply want to believe their success is special and not like a boxing match with fighters only allowed to use one arm. Theres definitely players out there and if you're Newcastle even if you find them it's harder to keep them.
