Which were a success? Alex Rae - hit Kevin Kilbane - miss Darren Bent, I can't remember how he did against us but he was superb in general for Charlton.
Ian Bowyer played 200 games for Forest and was excellent. Signed for Sunderland and was abysmal. Went back to Forest, played 200 more games, and was excellent.
He scored 2 goals at the SoL against us for Charlton in the season opener. We were ****e that day and all season.
I mean small sample size but Januzaj was the next wonderkid and scored two at the SoL, signed by Moyes to join the doom squad
Was a genuinely ambitious signing back then. We had a few around then that weren’t great but had excellent careers. Lee Chapman another one.
Brian Mooney looked excellent every time I saw him, was really pleased we signed him but he was poor.
At least Bent was a hit, for us. Scored for fun and we made a nice profit. Shame that he left on the sour note because he was so well liked before that.
Great shout He was absolutely hideous. Decent shot stopper tbf but his all round game was nowhere near good enough whilst here
Yep. Compare the summer we signed Jon Stead to the lads we are buying now… Mick McCarthy was given a 10 million overall budget if I remember right.
Don’t think it was that much. Stead was the star signing at 1.8m and Gray was 900k. Kelvin Davis was 800k. I can’t remember spending much, if any more than that?
