I still don’t understand how Palestine becoming an established state brings peace to the Middle East? I can’t see it making any difference to Benny, he’d still attack them regardless. Not being funny or looking for an argument, just genuinely interested in how that changes anything? Nobody would step in and stop them when they’re backed by the US which they always will be. International law means nothing neither. Plenty countries just ignore that. Nobody is going to rock up in Israel and arrest Benny.
I genuinely don't get this obsession with calling it Palestine. Did anyone care when Yugoslavia was hit with bombs of peace and split up into smaller regions...no... and that still holds bitterness with some people of the area to this day and the place is still a tinderbox in some parts. I think it all should be called The Great State of Israel, we could get the North Korean leader to come over and draw up the plans for the Gaza strip resort.
Still hope for Piskie and his water resort, yet. I just don’t see how it changes anything. Both sides will still hate each other. It’s only a matter of time before a rocket is launched over and then it all flares up again. I don’t think the Palestine border force is going to stand up to an Israeli tank rolling through. Piskie might offer something different that I’m not seeing, but for me it’s pointless and doesn’t change a thing in reality.
I think the key difference which gives me the edge is that whereas you’d let every Palestinian die to save one Israeli (appreciated), I’d do so for a corner against Preston on Saturday.
Palestinians will claim that they only attack Israel because they are fighting against the occupying force, and Israelis will claim they only attack Palestine because they are defending themselves. An independent state for each side means they can conduct their own affairs without interference. But, you're right, who stops Benny the Butcher ? Because right now he is a fully fledged terrorist and he is the main stumbling block to peace at the moment. Ultimately though a Palestinian state gives Palestinians the right to self determination, and the ability to function as a country, raise their own taxes, export their own produce and look at developing Tourism with a shiny new water park. In the end it comes down to the same rights that the Jews wanted for Israel, their homeland and the right to live autonomously.

You don’t even have to look to former Knesset members for those views. That parliament is littered with actual fascist religious zealots and many of them are in Netanyahu’s cabinet. Ben-Givr and Smotrich one of whom is the actual security minister for Israel have been banned from the UK and has their assets frozen for ‘inciting extremist violence and serious abuses of Palestinian human rights". And today, Benny the butcher is calling for the complete military occupation of Gaza. He is doing the bidding of those who prop him up, and the end game is total annexation and eventual Jewish settlement of Gaza. And this terrorist govt still gets a free pass from the US and the west….
I think a complete military occupation by Israel into Gaza is the sensible way forward. Not popular but sensible. They can ensure safe transit then of food supplies, then can ensure no new terrorist factions arise, they can ensure on the annihilation of Hamas and no further uprisings. They can ensure contractors are protected during the rebuild. They can ensure an organised and safe return of Palestinians, overseeing any encampments and protecting the occupants within, also ensuring medical aid is in situ to avoid the spread of disease. Great idea.
