So question is, does the captain get into the starting 11 after we started with 3 points???

TBH yes, he probably does, but does he come in for Fish, Lawlor or Wintle????

The beauty is that B B-M can flex that within a game.
He could start instead of Wintle with the view to moving him to CB if Fish or Lawlor are struggling, like yesterday.
The chances are he'll help protect the two of them anyway.
It comes down to B B-Ms comitment to Lawlor. You don't want to drop him off the back of one difficult game for him. It would dent his confidence.

I think there are a few games to go before we see a settled side. And even then there will be injuries and suspensions to deal with.
    As always, a squad game.

    Suppose he does.

Think it’ll be Lawlor but not convinced with Fish. Daland perhaps?

Wintle is one of the first to be picked.

Alongside the 2 Colwills. Rubin had one of his best games for us but everyone around me was impressed with Joel's energy and all aspects of his game.

I suspect Chambers will be in for Lawlor although it could be for Fish who didn't have a great game.

I dont believe BBM will play Chambers in midfield. Poor passer and very slow.

He may pick him in defence which is a serious worry.

Unless reinforcements come in then id stick. Both CBs were bullied on Saturday but Chambers is easily bullied as well.

If we were axing one id drop Fish. I think Lawlor is far better than what he showed Saturday and is far better on the ball than Fish.

The only change id make is to give Isaak a start instead of probably Ashford. Bit more pace on the counter.

    Agree with all that.

Chambers in defence last season was exposed time after time due to his lack of pace. He was better in CM as the season progressed but he doesn’t inspire me with any confidence. I’m surprised he’s still at the club with his playing limitations and wages but BBM has made him captain.

Lawlor may be feeling a bit shell shocked after Saturday’s traumatic first half. Starting him again will be good for his morale.

Who plays CD and CM are decisions BBM will have to grapple with.

I really hope he sticks with Joel Colwill.

Perhaps he knows a bit more about it than you and the rest of us?

For what it's worth given that game on Saturday, I'd stick witrh the same starting 11, but I'll bet he starts Chambers in some capacity.

Nin - just re-read that last post of mine in reply to yours.

Must say it seems a bit rude now I've read it back but it was in no way intended to be. Apologies if it came across as that.

Apparently the captaincy and vice captain were chosen by player vote.

I read that. An interesting approach.
It brings into question B B-M's loyalty to his leaders. Possibly makes them more dropable.
Not sure I like the approach.

I would concur with the same starting line-up. Just because you are captain doesn’t guarantee a place.

One change I would possibly make is replacing Ashford, but he could have a stormer on Thursday. And maybe have a word with Kpakio. His link up play is very good but he needs to know when to release the ball. A couple of times he got caught out on Saturday and left the back line open.

For the Swindon game it would make sense to change the team to assess the other players and maybe give a few of the squad an early season rest. Injuries will undoubtedly occur so hopefully a couple of decent signings will help.

    Not too many changes.
    Need to build momentum.
And it's unfair on those incoming. They can't show their full potential in a massively changed side.
I'm never a fan of wholesale changes.
Keeper, striker, and one or two others maybe.
