You were actually saying what a mess we are in a few weeks ago mate? What’s changed now? I mean can we really afford to pay someoen that much? I agree he’ll do better than sinik omur etc
But can we afford to pay that??

Not ideal but he can, especially if he is deployed like second striker, won't expect wing play.

Haven't we just got £1.5m for Altaze who was a free transfer?

Does seem counter intuitive to be offering that much, especially if there's a huge wage disparity there.

Surely if the EFL have given the green light though they must be satisfied by something that they weren't 4 weeks ago?

Don't think that scrutiny will be going anywhere for a couple of windows at least. Regardless of the outcome on Wednesday.

I think he will be a good signing

Just far too much wages in my opinion
But it is what it is

Didn't we have higher wages in PL years?

Imagine if the fee ban gets suspended and we can sign Frigan.

If we’d have had to pay a transfer fee, plus wages on top for the duration of the contract, we would probably be spending considerably more.

That probably is how he thinks. Sign a striker on massive wages and if we don’t get promotion, it will be the head coach’s fault. He’s an irresponsible man-child. Dublin called the EFL and got the wage cap lifted last week and the club have gone apeshit again. Like an alcoholic having ‘just one drink’.

What’s to suggest the wage offer has changed? It may be our cash flow has improved with players off the books and transfer fees.

If we were signing a proven Championship striker for £3m, on a three year deal, paying £25k a week, everyone would think it was a decent deal.

Signing a proven Championship striker on a free, on a three year deal, paying £45k a week, seems to have many up in arms.

But they basically cost the same.

It's not how it works. We're still under enhanced scrutiny just we've since recoupled quite a bit in fees and wage budget which has helped towards affordability.

I am just curious, can't we buy players free this summer with mandatory fee in 1.5 years. For example, Galatasaray loaned Frankowski 2 years with mandatory fee in 2027 to Rennes.

I reckon we paid Michael Dawson and others more than Bullard.

McBurnie was always going to on a big wage, he wouldn’t have come otherwise. Of course, the value of that is up for discussion.

No, EFL will see that as circumventing the restriction and won't ratify it.

Wed still be committing to a fee in this window, just deferring payment of it.

They aren’t the same though. If a player who cost £3M in transfer fees on £25K-a-week flops, it’s easier to get them off the books by selling them, even at a loss.

Why do you think we haven’t sold Ömür yet and keep loaning him out?

Yep. And considering we covered the full £60k p/w contract of Ben Arfa + bonuses during his loan here, that is no small thing. Acun is going for it.

How can so many people know his wages when he hasn't even signed yet?

Not really. The overall package is the same over the length of the contract and if they flop the loss would be the same. Just instead of amortization it's on the wage bill, but they're essentially the same playing budget anyway.
