Just me or does something seem to be happening tonight? Links to Ryerson, Bradley on the tweets, been too quiet all day. Something cooking here for tonight I reckon
Where are these widely reported reports mate? The first three I’ve looked at all say he’s signed for 50k a week at Chelsea.
Sunderland AFC is delighted to announce that Régis Le Bris has signed a new long-term contract at the Stadium of Light. Ahead of the 2025-26 Premier League season, the Frenchman has committed his future to Wearside until summer 2028. Le Bris enjoyed an exceptional first 12 months in English football, as he guided the Club back to the top tier following an eight-year absence. After extending his contract, the Head Coach said: “The connection I have with the staff, players, and supporters has been natural, and we shared many great moments together. The collective ambition is there to see and now, there is a desire to become stronger. I can feel the energy and intent to push forward, and we need that in the next challenges we will face. In every part of the organisation, everyone has their own part to play, and we are all aligned.” Following his departure from FC Lorient, Le Bris was appointed Head Coach of Sunderland in June 2024. The Club enjoyed an historic start to the 2024-25 campaign under the 49-year-old, who directed the Black Cats to nine wins from their opening 12 games. He was named Championship Manager of the Month in August and October, and after ending the regular season in fourth, the Club rallied behind the Frenchman’s leadership and vowed to go ‘Til The End. An iconic semi-final victory over Coventry City came first and a legendary finale followed, as Sunderland defeated Sheffield United at Wembley Stadium to return to the Premier League and conclude Le Bris’ unforgettable opening act on Wearside. Kristjaan Speakman added: “Like every Sunderland supporter, I’m delighted we are announcing this contract extension for Régis. It provides clarity going into the Premier League season, but more importantly it recognises his contribution and continued commitment to the Club. Régis has an unrelenting desire for progression that matches our own and we look forward to continuing our partnership throughout the upcoming season, as we move forward with aligned objectives that reflect our shared ambition.” Now, Le Bris will lead the team into an exciting new chapter in Kyril Louis-Dreyfus’ ownership, as the Club returns to the Premier League backed by the red and white army. Joined by eight new signings – Enzo Le Fée, Habib Diarra, Noah Sadiki, Reinildo Mandava, Chemsdine Talbi, Simon Adingra, Granit Xhaka, and Robin Roefs – the Black Cats’ season opener versus West Ham United is less than two weeks away. Director of Football, Florent Ghisolfi concluded: “Regis’ new contract is a mark of recognition for the outstanding work he’s undertaken since arriving at Sunderland, and more importantly, it reflects our trust in the future we’re building together. Our objective is to establish Sunderland as a Premier League Club – not just in name, but in identity, performance, and ambition – and Regis is an important part of that vision. He shares our desire, and we are ready to face the challenges and opportunities ahead with conviction and purpose.”
They’ve got a fair few forwards there now. I wouldn’t want Nketiah but I think Edouard could do a job for us. They’ll not let Mateta go.
This news shouldn’t be brushed over. It shows behind the scenes the club are backing the manager, for new signings it can mean a lot to know what you’re coming into will most likely remain. Everyone behind the scenes who has a good relationship with the gaffa will thrive, it will lift spirits. It also then protects us even more if we do well and he’s wanted. Brilliant news all round.
