I do think we bring in a GK because otherwise we only have 2 and that's not enough. I just don't see it being anything but a loan or maybe a free at this point. I also want the loan to be as a no.1 but that doesn't seem likely.

 

It'll be a Stuart Taylor/Joe Lumley style freebie I expect.

I meant more we won’t bring in a number 1, can see us bringing in a Lumley replacement.

 

If it's a loan, I would suggest it's likely to be as no.1. I'm not sure either the player nor their parent club would be too interested in agreeing to a loan where they are designated to be our no.3.

Whereas a free transfer probably would be as a no.3.

I would imagine the loan market for goalkeepers will open up right towards the of the window. Even after just a few weeks of matches, keepers who are not playing might start to get itchy for a move.

 

Yep 100% Always shouted that & that’s why I’m so disappointed & distrustful of SR. In my book, they’ve always tried to be too clever. Ok, that possibly was the ****er before but SR are the custodians. Regarding WS, another “out of the box” type selection although I get we’re limited & he has some pedigree. I'd be surprised if we sell Dibling for £35m. We typically get top money for players we sell, and we put a keep away price tag of £100m on him last season. Would be quite the dramatic drop off from that. Not that £100m was ever realistic, but still. I was expecting/hoping for £40m + add ons and a sell on.

I also have in my mind that the more we sell Dibling for, the more likely we are to just say no to selling Fernandes.

 

Think it’s best to accept they are both gone and hope we get somewhere close to £100m for the pair, think it’s more likely to be about £80m though.

 

I know that's the most likely scenario. But I won't accept it until it's done and they are both gone Would be so much more confident about this season if we somehow managed to keep hold of Fernandes.

 

So they are only £2m away then from the valuation, is obviously going to happen and he clearly wants the move otherwise they wouldn’t be bothering. Is a good move for him as he should play a fair bit there, doubt he starts but minutes off the bench and hopefully develops into a starter in time

Well, it depends on what the actual add ons are - if we deem them unachievable then they are not 2mill away.

I reckon £40 million with £5-10 million in add-ons would do it. Add on a healthy sell on fee as well.
