He might have said yes and signed a contract for all we know. We will confirm the deal 20 minutes into his debut.
I assume the Sunday deadline if true and they stick to it is just for him confirming he's going to sign not actually putting pen to paper the actual signing would happen later this week with a medical etc
There's really no need for it to take more than a day or 2 once he agrees to sign. It would literally be a medical and then the announcement. Although I dont think we'll get him, I do think he'd be great for us in our current situation. Not that our season depends on him joining but it would be a whole lot more comfortable with an experienced player like him on board.
I imagine akintola and ndala are quite relatively cheap Good signings i think Allows millar and belloumi to come in slowly and managed while also taking pressure off them needing to come in top form Plus injuries and knocks common occurence in champ
Baz's article earlier this morning suggests McBurnie negotiations are ongoing: Elsewhere, talks with Oliver McBurnie over a possible move to the MKM Stadium remain ongoing and City hope they can strike a deal for the 29-year-old former Sheffield United striker. As others have said, it would be great if we could get him, but we do need to move on if a deal can't be wrapped up in the next few days.
I know we want to get the deal wrapped up - but for McBurnie he has no need to rush and he knows it. The closer we get to the season the more desperate teams will get and the more his wage offer will increase. The ball is completely in his court. Even if we set him a deadline then he knows it means nothing really. If he doesn’t sign today or tomorrow he knows that we could very well be back in for him next week. I hate being messed around as much as anyone but the fact we can’t buy anyone just strengthens his hand. We should be moving onto the next target - but we should have been doing that anyway.
I still think we want both frigan and mcburnie The former, majorly dependent on wednesdays result But its not like the team will just be sat twiddling thumbs waiting on mcburnies decision Theyll be seeing other targets.. but due to the efl restrictions I still think if we get neither mcburnie or frigan Itll be a prem loan or even someone like tom cannon
I’d love for someone to name another free transfer proven striker at this level available! The club are being slightly held to ransom of course but while the restrictions are in place there is no one better! The best loanees from the prem would all require fees
there is no other player we could get who is better than mcburnie thats a fact but i bet sheff u feel the same, getting rid of moore and getting mcburnie seems logical
Latest HDM update sounds positive on McBurnie and also hints that we might want Frigan in addition if the ban is lifted
The Tigers are pushing hard to finally end their quest to sign the Scotland international Barry Cooper Hull City remain hopeful of securing a deal for Oli McBurnie in the next 24 hours as the Championship club continue to hold talks with the striker. City have spent much of the summer tracking the 29-year-old and have made their case to bring him to the MKM Stadium witha lucrative, long-term contract on the table. Boss Sergej Jakirovic had suggested on Saturday that McBurnie would be given the weekend to decide what his plans were, but after more conversations, it's thought some progress has been made with both parties and a growing possibility a deal gets done. Sources told Hull Live on Monday that owner Acun Ilicali is involved in the deal to try and get it over the line, with the club pushing hard to wrap it up and have him in the squad for Saturday's season opener at Coventry City. The Tigers believe the chance to be a regular starter under a manager keen to work with him, the chance to link up with former Blades teammates John Egan and John Lundstram and the likelihood of him becoming an instant terrace favourite will swing things in their favour. McBurnie has spent much of the summer considering his future after opting to leave Las Palmas following their relegation from Spain's La Liga, but it's believed his future will be decided imminently. Sheffield United have offered him a significant contract to tie up a return to Bramall Lane, a little over 12 months after his departure from the Steel City, while Ipswich Town and Swansea City have been lurking. A return to Las Palmas had not been ruled out, with the Gran Canaria club desperate to see him return for their assault on what they hope will be an instant return to Spain's top flight. City, though, remain positive that they can wrap up a deal for one of their top targets this summer and hope that they can get it sealed in the coming hours. The Tigers are still keen on striker Matija Frigan, but any hope of securing that deal will hinge on the outcome of the club's appeal on Wednesday against a three-window transfer fee restriction.
That's been the case for a while now wanting both, think Serj actually came out and said as much tbf, but wanting and getting are 2 different things sadly, especially in our position.
