Hmmm. Billie Sharp is one player I would bet my next mortgage payment on being successful at City. I also hear that Anthony Gerrard was seen outside a kebab shop on Newland Avenue last week. Although that is unconfirmed. The same source also said that Nigel Peason was spotted picking the peanuts out of a dog turd outside his own home last night. Now that I can believe.
Will be interesting to see what contacts this George Foster guy has, lets hope he can find some gems for us like Walshy.
He cost them £3m and is apparently on £20k a week, but his contract expires at the end of this season so the might be a deal to be done(he has off-field problems too, which I suspect Nick would see as an issue).
I wouldn't be so sure, the fee being asked for being way above their worth is usually the result of the media coverage (eg Trundle vs Constantine when we were in D3, or closer to home Fryatt vs McLean). Has Davies had a lot of media coverage?
He hasn't received much attention at all, I've seen one article linking Leeds with a move for him, but that's it.
The problem is though that we are currently being very successful playing a lone striker. So if we buy another striker he is either going to have to warm the bench or he is going to have to replace Matty. I said a few weeks ago that January will be the first big test for Nick. Keeping going what aint broke is RELATIVELY easy. Strengthening the squad with the right kind of player without upsetting the harmony is more difficult. Even a loan would be dodgy if we get someone in of sufficient quality it would have to be from a Prem side and the parent club would expect us to play the player week in week out. Hmmm!! What to do?
I see Anthony Gerard's contract at Cardiff is complete at the end of June next year. You would think they would have tied up another one by now. Wonder if there's a chance he's available? RFT
Unfortunately, I reckon AntG is letting his contract run down so that he can walk straight into one of the promoted sides at the end of the season on a lucrative contract.
Dont think he can. Moving to clubs in the same league means players can only sign pre-contracts 3 months prior to current deal expiring. Moving abroad = 6 months
still say ched evans. Premier league club experience. Has to be nearing the end of his contract and sheff utd needs the bunce
Promoted to where? Any promoted team going into the PL would want better than Gerrard. Untested in the PL and often found wanting in the Championship. To think he'd walk into any PL side, newly promoted or not is ridiculous.
No, the rule is a PL/FL rule prohibiting their members speaking to players belonging to other members.
I really don't get the Adebola thing. He was signed on a free to be a 'last resort' striker mainly for use from the bench when we need a goal (something we lacked enormously last year) and as a starter in times of shortage. The strikers have done well so far and he hasn't been needed, when he has played he's done well. What could he actually do to please people on here? I suppose if he was always injured he wouldn't be doing his job in providing cover but he seems to be fit every week and always available for when we need him, fortunately we haven't needed him yet and hopefully we won't need him, but it doesn't make him cack.
I hope Gerrard has a lot of free minutes on his phone contract. One minute he's calling Barmby to discuss a move back to the KC. Not content with that he then bells our defenders to tell them about how we can beat Millwall.
