I think I’d still prefer Edwards over Quarshie, and Stewart over Downs (for the time being). Ease them into the team when it’s more settled and winning.
“When” is doing a lot of heavy lifting here! I’d be picking Edwards over Stephens, playing alongside Quarshie as our first choice back 2 every game from the start.
This was my 4th visit to St Mary's. Now two loses and two draws. Thought Bazunu was far better than before, looked much more confident. Starting team seemed too passive. All the subs came on and improved the energy. Robinson was a joy to watch. Brighton tried some rough stuff on him but he just shrugged it off. Must be a starter next week.
Wonder how quickly Robinson will be linked with Brighton. I really hope we get to appreciate him play in red and white stripes. I bet he is already being scouted.
I think he has more potential than Dibling. Just think that Brighton will have been impressed and will make a move before everyone else is aware of him. Just worried that he is going to be poached like the young lad who went to Man Utd . The academy has improved but think other clubs will benefit now we are in a lower league.
Completely different scenarios. The lad who went to Man United didn't want to sign a pro contract here so we were powerless to stop him leaving. Robinson has and also signed an extension not long ago.
I wouldn't say more potential than Dibling, thjnk that's getting carried away a bit personally. Let's see how he gets on this season. Clubs will already be aware of him too as they're always scouting other academy players, they'll have been aware of him for much longer than us as Saints fans will have.
He was one of our best players. Nothing glorious but very tidy. Tackling, passing, just looked like a competent first-teamer. Definitely bodes well. Really need to get him more minutes in cup/low-risk games. The way he, Robinson, and Dibling have made the step up, suggests we really need to be looking more at our academy players. Shame to see Ballard has disappeared off the radar entirely this summer.
Seems quite athletic and certainly not overawed by playing in the first team. Be interesting to see if he stays around the first team group.
First half I thought he was a bright point. Second half he looked tired. Very confident receiver of the ball, and happy to take players on in midfield. Needs to play cup games and the odd subs appearance.
Nah. That lad's got a Japanese sounding name iirc, though he's black. Sesay has been with us a while. Was tipped to break into the first team last season, along with Bragg, Dipepa, and Akachukwu.
