I just think the club announces it when the deal is signed and done. Apparently there were some minor issues with the paperwork over the Mosquera deal, which delayed his annoucement. But I'd expect it as soon as he joins up with the squad in Asia. Same with Gyokeres if he travels out there. Usually we're pretty good at getting all of the media stuff out on the same day that the player signs. The Zubemendi signing had it all on the same day (although the transfer seemed to take months to get done lol)
My only worry is that we go more defensive with Gyokeres. Arteta went almost low block for a part of last Season when Odegaard was out - the main reason it wasn't successful is that we weren't clinical offensively. Gyokeres may give Arteta the licence to sit deep and counter.
Nah, I don't see that happening. If anything we've known we need more attacking players, so this is a push to play more attacking football again Last season we played low block when we had most of our creative and dangerous players out injured, so it was needs must I don't see this as being the default at all.
Whilst I agree to an extent, Arteta has become more conservative tactically in the last couple seasons and has prioritised control and structure over free-flowing, fluid football. I do think some of it is by design and we frequently ask a lot from our attackers (especially wingers) from a defensive standpoint. I guess we will see when the season starts what the next step of our tactical evolution is. It'll be interesting.
If any of you guys want to enter the dream team league on the premier league board, here’s the details. https://not606.com/threads/fantasy-football-25-26.418874/
It is vital we do not fall into the trap City did with Haaland - their football became far less of a threat as they organised themselves to focus purely on Haaland being the finisher. I have hope that Gyokeres, given some of the reviews, is not as limited a footballer as Haaland and has much more to his game.
i doubt it to be honest - I think they likely ready all the PR work first, then announce. It is what it is. Just think they could handle things far better, though I am happy they don;t get involved in any of the crazy speculation every transfer window.
Absolutely superb, generational signing. Never seen him play one minute of football but he's definitely world class.
Growing X news that Jesus is off to Brazil on loan with buy option next year. Half wages covered. That would almost guarantee Eze is happening I feel.
Haven't seen anyone reliable report this yet, so let's see, but yes, if we can loan him to Flamengo for the year and get 50% of his wages off the books + an option to buy clause in there, that would be ideal. Furthermore, David Ornstein has reported that we are in advanced talks with Fulham for Reiss Nelson, but it's undecided whether it'll be a straight loan, loan with option to buy or loan with obligation to buy. Will be interesting to see how this one develops too. I think if we can get rid of these two, it would free up squad space for another top player.
There are sources on X right now claiming Arteta still wants Rodrygo & Eze. Can't see both happening but if they did we would be pretty hard to stop IMO. This squad is soo well rounded. -----------------------------Raya--------------------------------- -----------------------------Kepa--------------------------------- Timber----------Saliba---------Gabriel---------------MLS (White)--------(Mosquera)-------(Kiwior)--------(Calafiori) ------Odegaard--------Zubimendi----------Rice----------- ---------(Eze)------------(Noordgard)-------(Merino)--------- -Saka-------------------Gyokeres----------------Rodrygo- (Madueki)---------------(Havertz)--------------(Martinelli) plus ..Nwaneri & Dowman. If and it's a big If this were to happen I think this side wins the League irregardless of Liverpool signing Isak.
I get it if Kiwior and/or Zinchenko leaves, but it does frustrate me how quick we are to replace defenders than we are to bring attacking players in. Gyokeres cannot be the last attacking signing we make. We simply need at least one more (ideally 2).
I am not so sure we need anyone else - in fact we probably have more than we need and should be looking to offload some players. Genuinely can not see where we need two more attacking players unless we have leavers - like you say in terms of defenders, think it applies to attackers too. Right now we have Havertz Saka Martinelli Gyokeres Trossard Madueke Jesus That's 7 top class attacking players for 3 positions (assuming Gyokeres turns out how we want him to) PLUS Nwaneri as he can also fill in at wide right. We also have Nelson who , for a 3rd string player, is extremely good. 9 options for the attacking positions Possible front 3 lineups 1 - Saka Gyokeres Martinelli 2 - Madueke Havertz Trossard 3- Nwaneri Jesus Nelson This squad came within touching distance of winning the title 2 of the last 3 seasons and were good enough to do it... We've replaced leavers plus added , so we are stronger.
Sorry, I wasn't clear - I believe we need 2 more players in and we need to shift players too. Eze and Leao or Eze and Rodrygo come into our squad in an ideal world. In terms of the players that leave, I would like to see Jesus and Trossard/Martinelli (or both) go as I don't think we need both of them and, frankly, neither are good enough to be starters for us if we are serious about winning trophies. Jesus isn't going to be back until the end of 2025 and I also think he has no long-term future at the club, so this will likely be another departure either this year or next year. But right now, with those players you've listed, I don't think that attack is good enough to win a league or CL.
