Surely the club should be the judge of who’s capable of stepping up ? Le Bris will want a squad capable whether they are here or not here now. But if he judges they aren’t capable they move them on. Both Neil and Patterson for example had substantial spells of poor form a league below. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist. The Sheffield utd poor was we finished below them and they wouldn’t have been good enough.
Yeah Defo heard dortmund were looking Seen a new report that madrid are having doubts on gracia and endrick for their squad, maybes we go back for garcia
I don't think we're signing another striker after Guiu. All 3 strikers we have in the squad have risk and doubt around them, but I think all 3 are potentially Premier League players. Signing a guaranteed first choice just doesn't work. It means less minutes for Mayenda, frustrates Chelsea and probably ostracises Isidor who is a massive character in this squad.
Isidor will score goals in any league. He will always be frustrating and he will always miss a few, but he gets himself in great positions and many of his finishes are absolutely stunning. He can’t head for **** but going across the keeper or first time he often drops your jaw. The Coventry first leg goal is a great example, that’s the kind of chance we will get in the PL. He can head to Saudi with my blessing if they wanna fling us £40million plus, but I think he is more suited to the PL, more suited to the bigger breaks between games, and scores a similar amount to last season. That is before we even start on his magnificent character and how much of an off the park asset the kid is. Wilson stays for me.
I'm probably in the minority but I think he just needs a bit of love, I think there is a player in there I'd be over the moon if we went for that
Yeah there will be. It’s certainly not impossible for us it’s Xhaka level in terms of the challenge. He could go and play somewhere like Inter or Liepzig and be a major player so it’s a long shot.
Kind of but also no because we have had multiple balls fizz across the box and crosses out in but imo Mayenda is too static. We need someone with a proper strikers instinct and ability in the box and I think Guiu could maybe be that hopefully
Well others have probably seen more of him tbf. My own opinion is he is a really exciting talent and I think he is probably tailor made to how we want to play. He is very typical of young strikers from elite academy setups in that his pressing is superb. It isnt closing down for closing down sake, it is really targeted closing when a chance to force an error is on. He is good in the air which I think is something we are missing in open play. If wingers can really get balls in he will be a threat. He has good awareness of space and how to create it in the box, often sneaking between centre halves. My favourite part of his game is agressiveness in the box. He has this 'that is my ball mentality' that I love in a striker. Sometimes you have to turn an ok ball into a good one if that makes sense. He seems to have that desire and not every striker has it. A couple of downsides might be he isnt yet as strong as he could be. Prem centre backs tend to be really good at using their body and he might find that a bit of a challenge to overcome. It is night and day compared to junior and lower levels. Not sure he sees every option available to him either, but that might be being really picky. I always look at how much of the pitch players have in their head when receiving the ball because I think it is the single most important attribute after first touch. Overall I am looking forward to seeing how he gets on. No guarantees with any new player coming in, but I would fancy Giui to make a positive impact for us. Club must fancy him as we have done the loan even without an option, which speaks better to his talent than my opinions.
Got a fantastic profile for a striker, 6,3, Pace and power in spades. Feel like he could revitalise his career at Sunderland.
Definitely a player there. Similar to Darwin ‘too much too soon’ and hard to recover. He could easily, and probably will, become a very good player and scorer with a reset.
Isidor is a lot better than you think. Honestly think he will thrive. The only shot he had in pre season he scored because he’s a good finisher
Me too mate. A rare sort of talent imo. Just delighted we saw 2 years of him, and how much he took us to his heart. I have no doubt our rep as a club grew because of him.
Feels like he’s nailed on for Everton or Ipswich, maybe a club in Italy, weren’t Lazio keen afew windows back ?, know Burnley hold a long term interest too
