Please watch this https://www.instagram.com/reel/DM4m5Y_SM4e/?igsh=N3VjMmcxa2M5a2J2 A message to any supporters of Labours current economic policy Even more so anyone thinking of voting Reform, the worse of the evils, who will openly remove support services to give a higher % to the wealthy. They’ll do the opposite of what’s being suggested. Anyone complaining about the working wealthy being taxed watch this.
Basically, he’s a millionaire economist who likes to brag about how much money he made around about the time of Covid, whilst preaching about the rich getting richer.
Problem there mate is I have a few mates now who are millionaires, but I would say that’s middle class now not super rich.
Okay, I watched it. I understand what he is saying but what is the solution right now? There’s no election coming up, this budget will be coming out in a few months and the electorate have no power to change anything. Like this guy says, it is a global issue. Until it’s tackled on a global scale by leaders across the world, we have very little impact. You won’t agree with this but the reality is the richest people will take their business elsewhere if we are the only nation to come down hard on them. If all governments joined together, then we’d have a chance as they’d be no point in them moving it elsewhere. On top of that, there’s a million and one loopholes that would need closing to stop them protecting their wealth from taxation and even then the people at the top would just create new ways for them. I sense it’s a losing battle.
You farmers are all minted, though I agree with you but there’s still plenty of money circulating around and I believe that hard work and innovation can still pay off for us at the bottom of the pile. The governments that we have still waste a hell of a lot of money and until there’s competency at the top, society doesn’t stand a chance. We will never all be equal which is what’s underlying with this sort of debate, as there’s different levels of work ethic and ability. Suggesting otherwise is a pipe dream.
Very true. Didn’t need to tell all them lies to get voted in, that’s the daft thing. The Tories were out on their arse regardless. The more you look back now, you can see it was planned, even the ‘black hole’ would have been part of the cover story before they got in.
After Corbyn, I honestly thought Starmer was bringing them back close to centre ground. He’s failed miserably. I’m done with voting in elections, mate. It’s an old trope but they’re actually all the same once they get in and there’s not one party that I feel represents the working class people these days.
The government is a kick in the arse off being bankrupt, popular sentiment won't accept more austerity, the only way through is to tighten the belt but it feels like we've been doing that for decades due to frivolous spending on sh!tty causes. You're right that Farage won't solve the problem, the bigger issue for many is that people won't look leftward after Farage, they will say he didn't do enough, wasn't hard enough. The country needs a clean sweep, it can't be saved by being sensible or nice, if you're in a burning house, you need to exit via the door (burn your hand) or window (cuts).
If we don’t make a grab for extreme wealth we’ll have more need fur services and more cuts to services. The reality is less support eg for young people from low income families, we ended up needing more costly resources- mental health, justice, educational failure. More cuts is not a reality for a functioning society. I don’t much care about left right middle, I think we need to make the case that immoral wealth and immoral hardship are bad for the economy and our lives so every party knows it’s a vote winner.
It's the country that'salmost bankrupt, successive governments have brought us to this point. It probably started with Thatcher (who else) who pissed away North Sea oil receipts on tax cuts instead of creating a sovereign wealth fund. Problem is we expect Scandinavian levels of public services while aspiring to US levels of taxation. Like everything in life, you get what you pay for.
Blaming the Thatcher is just playing the game, like those who would blame Blair, the country hasn't had a proper government in my lifetime. We need something completely new, a new paradigm, the way 99% of people think about politics will result in the same recycled dirge in my opinion.
Blaming Thatcher is valid in this instance, she wasted a massive income stream to give short term tax cuts instead of building for the future. She wasn't wrong all the time, but on this one she betrayed future generations.
