Blimey Zen, that must have been posted by a very bitter person. Unfortunately we English have upset so many people over the years that not even Poirot could find the guilty person.

When the polytechnics were made into universities some polytechnics couldn't just change that word into 'university' because of existing universities (eg Oxford Polytechnic couldn't call itself Oxford University). The original name suggested for Newcastle Polytechnic must have had the Google definition of an English person in mind until a secretary objected to using the acronym. It was going to be called, and this is true, apparently, the City University of Newcastle upon Tyne.

Evening all - been a busy bee as well today. Took Little Miss W_Y to MK for some shopping, dropped into the outlaws as missy left her hat there yesterday and I have promising for weeks to drop in and see their new wet-room. Then home for an afternoon of baking - freezer in the garage is now full of sausage rolls and mince pies!

Horrible night in bandit country with strong winds and driving rain..night for staying in

Did you know that the raining cats and dogs expression started in Paris? If you are nervous do not read on!!!!!!!!

Seemingly several hundred years ago when there was heavy rain in the city the drains could not cope, so it washed up all of the dead cats and dogs that people had disposed of down the open manholes.<yikes>

I always find that this one goes down well at dinner parties. <laugh>

Every time I switch over to see her it is raining and she is all covered up, unless she is wearing her bikini underneath her rain clothes;)
