Read a good book by a Yank who moved here in the 1950s contrasting the use of language in the two countries. He said never ask an Englishman where they are from. A Yorkshireman will happily tell you and it is unfair on the rest. One thing I liked was him saying he was travelling by train and had a meal. There was notice on the table saying there was a selection of condiments to compliment your meal. He wasn’t sure if the meal deserved any compliments but he gave his supplements to the chef.
Always use the East Yorkshire rose, rather than the generic Yorkshire one. It's down to the orientation.
Our East Riding flag is by far the best Yorkshire Ridings flag, blue for the sea and green for our green and pleasent land, here's a fine North Ferriby one complete with Philip Larkin quote.
His mrs probably owns all the land and farther in that snap. North York Moors ain't it? Still miss them and The Dales.
