Somewhere in that region. The problem we have isn’t money it’s spending it. Apparently players don’t want to come to Newcastle as they don’t see the PIF project as being as big as it initially looked.
I doubt that would stop say Scalvini coming. The club just saw the asking price and went nah. If it's not about money then why have we lost out on all these players (apart from JP) due to the transfer fee? Is the original quoted transfer pot based on selling a star player?
And Mbueno and now Sesko. Manu offering 100k a week more than we can makes the difference. We just can sling around £200-£250k a week wages like the others can. The transfer fees maybe an issue also. We just have to go after players not quite at the top of their game but our scouts appear to be useless at scouting. Or at least have been recently.
The problem could also be that in Europe you can only spend 70% of income on wages. We where over this last season.
But aren't our fans also then partly to blame? Look at the stink raised by the prospect of signing Wissa as Wilson's replacement!
The fans can’t be blamed for that I don’t think. Their expectations being higher than achievable is an issue but the club should be aware of the reality of the transfer market. The more I think about it the Europe and 70% issue is a big problem for us. And it’s massive for Villa hence the reason why they need to sell players and have not bought anyone. Our ratio for 24/25 is something like 74% and Villas is around 94% apparently.
I don't have a problem with the club trying or sign the players the big clubs are, but when they fail they drop off to squad fillers that nobody really wants.
I read it was up to £90m plus those two players. I'd take that, assuming Isak is as discontented as the media reports would have us believe and also as long as we were considering Nunez to be the Wilson replacement and still reinvested in a better striker to replace Isak.
Nunez is a good player. He’s not Isak level but his work rate is right up Howes street. And Elliott is one of englands brightest prospects so I don’t know why anyone (I know your not) would complain at that deal. Your getting two good players and a lot of money.
Exactly, outside the training ground….. ****ing idiots, unless it’s scousers, then it’s a genius move
