i was right behind the goal for barnards goal, god knows how he got that in. i think the game changed when he came on he really put the fright in to the centre backs constantly closing them down, he should get a start tuesday after it looked like guly pulled up.
As always Guly was covering an imense area of the ground, you can never doubt his enthusiasm, his discipline maybe, but he picked up some sort of strain, calf or achilles maybe and signalled to be taken off. He was unlucky with the one that hit the post. Hope he is available again soon.
Well , I didn't see that coming after 55 minutes. Genuinely was so pissed off when they equalized , thought we would go on to lose but credit to the team and to Adkins who made the subs straight away , who btw were both fantastic when they came on. Barnard has to start next game , Guly's off form currently and it'd be nice to give Lee a place in the starting X1 which he deserves. Disappointed with how negative we were in the first half , especially after getting a fairly early goal I was frustrated as to why we didn't continue the high tempo and push on to get more goals , instead sitting so deep and letting them come on to us. So pleased to finally get the win , and those absolute TW@TS in the hospitality bit of the Itchen who supported Swindon soon shut-up ...HAHAHAHA. Was pissing myself laughing when some Saints fan came over and decked one of the Swindon lot before it started kicking off Onwards and Upwards so they say.
I was impressed today. Having Lallana and Chamberlain on the wings really opens up space in the middle. Thought Schneiderlin had a positive impact on the game with his clinical passing helping us to dominate towards the end. I was very impressed with the character they showed after Swindon equalised and we scored two quick goals. The momentum was with them at that point and their fans had picked up. For me in block 4, its unfortunate that most of Saints' goals seem to get scored down the other end. I'll have to watch TFLS to see them better!
We often get more goals down our end......Chapel.........I waved KingslandSFC didn't see ya wave back........ MotM for me was Ricky Lambert his confidence is returning by the day.........
Rickie was very sharp , needs a striker next to him however who is willing to hold up the ball as well (Barnard) as he looked knackered by the end. Last season was the opposite effect , we struggled to score down the Chapel end , nice to see a bit of variation!
The game turned when Schniderlin and Barnard came on. We were dreadful for he first ten minutes of the second half. Soft goal to give away, but, as we all know, it was a blatant foul on Lambert that 20,000 people saw from miles away but the numpty in blue who was stood just feet away was oblivious to it. Once we scored our second, we hardly gave them a look in. Hopefully, on Tuesday we'll start with the team that finished (Gobern excepted). Onwards and upwards.
Beddytare - I waved whilst dancing to let's all have a disco lol Tough one for motm - thought the whole team pulled it together superbly as we conceded...got job done! Lambert freekick was unlucky - bend it like beckham or what!!!
Drove straight up to Milton Keynes from the match. A happy journey, and I am now full of beer and mixed grill. Agree with what's been already posted, and have to say the substitutions were key. I also felt that our a ability to retain possession meant that Swindon's players were having to do a lot more running around and maybe tired, giving the space for us to score. Lambert was fouled, but that is no excuse to stop playing! I did wonder whether Kelv should have done better. As for Barnards goal, I was right in line from behind his shoulder. Fantastic. But was it Fonte with miss of the season? (missed the barn door from 6ft)
Did any see Fonte surging run on the right wing in extra time - funny thing!! I was screaming - give it Fonte!! Pmsl
Yes, and Jaidi's goal. He looked so pleased. And then trying to play like Pele at the back and giving me nightmares!
Happy with the result today, although we took our foot off the gas for a spell and allowed pressure to produce an equaliser (after foul on Lambert) Our second and third took the stuffing out of them though, and the second half was much more comfortable. Thought that Gobern looked sharp, Schneiderlin looked really good coming on and improved our distribution immensely, and I think Barnard is worthy of a start now. He scored a great goal which was deserved and generally ran at the back 4. Guly had a good game, so I hope he's only got a little strain, and nothing serious. Roll on Tuesday
