<peacedove> January transfer window is not the best time to buy players, as selling clubs do not like to part with good players that period except their contracts are
    running out.
BACK- Currently we have the following players playing regularly.
Johnson, Skrtel, Agger,Enrique. God forbid , we can only hope that none of them is
going to be out injured for more than two weeks. We have Carragher who can play
central back,Kelly can fit in in the back as well.Do we need a player in the back.?
MIDFIELD. We have Adam,Henderson, Downing,Spearing, Maxi, playing in the midfield .Spearing serving suspension,Kuyt can also play in the midfield or
in forward position. Bellamy can also play there and upfront. We also have Shelvey.
FORWARD. Suarez, Bellamy# can also play there,Kuyt# can play there as well.
If we are going to buy only one player in January, do you think we should buy
    a defender, midfielder or striker.?<ok>

I think possibly most would disagree, but in this order I would say the priority is, and who my choices would be

    1. Right Mid/Wing - Lucas Moura
    2. Striker ( Goalscorer not a link striker ) - Leandro Damiao
    3. CM - not needed til summer IMO

Those are good names but will we get them and for a good price? doubtful. I watched Bologna x Milan yesterday and Gaston Ramirez looked OK, nothing special and we need goals. Di vaio on the other hand.....

I would prefer to get NOBODY than someone who isnt top notch, the players have to better than what we have already, and young

And IMO Im am REALLY strugglin to see someone in the PL who we could afford, who would be available, who would improve us, possibly Hoilett, dont even think G Cahill would improve us, no better than Skrtel for my liking

I agree, but wondering if that kind of dough will get splashed in january. Suppose it depends how far off we are for fourth. I still think Commolli has a trick up his sleeve for this one, someone no one will have heard of possibly.

I think we will have £20m-30m,which should be maximum 2 players, maybe 1, if we get proper quality

I hear Eto'o is looking for somewhere to play until the Russian league starts up again, could be a serious loan option there! cameroon I don't think made the ACON so that should be clear to go.

I would ****ING LOVE if we got him, my favorite forward by a country mile.

Well, I'd like to see Thierry Henry - do you think we can stretch to both? They played together for Barca. Those as a front two with Suarez drifting about, and a solid base of Henderson, Adam and Gerrard?

I still think we could replace Meireles, we didn't get rid of him because he was deadwood and no one was brought in to push him out of LFC. Also with Aquilani not part of our plans I can see a possible attacking midfielder. Who? God knows...I don't play FIFA or FM to bandy out names that I haven't heard of, just the players of teams I follow or who have received high praise by the media...Usually the players we are unlikely to get. <ok>

If I were to choose one name though, it would be Kagawa of Dortmund (I'm sure you will know him Bluff). They're out of the CL now and he is very useful as either an AM or Striker. I personally rate him higher than Honda and I know he is young, don't know his age off the top of my head.

I agree with Daydo.... just quality no fillers. Its hard in january and yes guys are right a loan may be tempting.

If the right guy is available at the right price we'll go do business... maschernao and arbeloa prove it can be done. Suarez obviously too....

In 4 games we are half terms and proably due a half term review article but before that happens we need to talk to what kenny and comolli have said, they bought and would see how players went before deciding anything. Kenny is being fiesty over who is getting critised.

my own thoughts are all about how to cover enrique if required (flanagan, agger, kelly, auerlio) so i am not at the point of seeing a defender come in. Keeper is covered right now and so the perennial debate comes to mind regarding a player of actual true quality (silva/mata quality) being bought. I don't know who that should be right now, spurs got VDV after all for very little didn't they?

I am firmly of the opinion another forward of class is required.

20-22 somehwere in there. Yes he is awesome, Gotze gets all the praise there but kagawa is awesome. Lucas barrios is good too but would def cost. I would say Gourcuff for me as the AM but since Lyon thrashed Zagreb, they are still in the CL and doubt that would come off. Marko Marin is another forgetten man but he could play anywhere behind the striker.

In order of priorities and realistic targets

CF- Demba Ba (Been on fire all season, knows where the net is)
Daniel Sturridge (Okay that one isn't realistic but his goal record with Chelsea and Bolton can't be argued with)
Podolski (I don't know his current club status and he might of moved recently, but I think he would be a good partner for Suarez)
Cavani (Unrealistic now Napoli have qualified)

    Midfield - DM
    Senna (Loan)
    Tiote

My mind was buzzing with ideas before I started writing, but now i've got that post mind blank

We have prob done better in recent yrs in Jan than the summer, with the likes of Masch,Agger,Skrtel,Arbeloa n Suarez

You have got to use this window to your advantage, eg , there will be players out there that we can buy who Real ,Barce,Chelsea n Arsenal cant look at til the summer cos ther cup tied.Hazard,Gotze,Erikson,Kagawa cant sign for the teams mentioned as they would be CL cup tied.Would for example Lille be able to resist a £25m bid from us is in Jan for Hazard, perhaps if LFC came in then, he may decide he wants to leave immediately

Landon Donavan would perhaps be another good short term move

you are right, if you are waiting for one guy you can make it happen... everyone of those names seem to be in that category. the competition does seem to be less sometimes this time of year too but converesly guys don't want to sell unless its lined up well in advance.

it'll be interesting to see but i expect one in and none out unless soemthing weird happens.

    DM - Benega

But everyone will tell us that he will not come to us, they're probably right too. Some would say that we don't need him to replace Lucas but I would like to see him come in to partner him. Benega is a bit more skillful and has more flair going forward whilst Lucas can continue being the creator and destroyer that he is. Just imagine that partnership? Phwooar. Will never happen though. :(

    I like Sandro from Spurs

They have a lot of depth in midfield and think he could be a realistic target, he's a cracking player who's actually quite similar to Lucas

No no no on Donovan, I really don't rate him and is he better than maxi or bellamy? Podolski could be a real shout as Koln are all over the place and he has admitted it is probably time for new pastures. Would be a very good signing I feel and the key to finishing the chances and getting the ball rolling with that.

DM/CM- that is a tricky one, not really even sure where to start or suggest with that? One for the future is casemiro from Sao Paulo but that won't help us now. Cambiasso maybe? I know he is old but quality he is.

    I think 1 in ( ?????wide player/or striker) + 1 out ( aurelio ).

+ Maybe Wilson or Coates out on loan, to Bolton would be good if Bolton offload Cahill, + perhaps 1 or 2, 18s and under in like maybe Wilfred Zaha n Max Clayton
