So - as the new season approaches spending levels in the PL are reaching unprecedented levels .. but who's money has been best spent and is most likely to ensure buying the title? Liverpool - £269 million Chelsea - £212 million Arsenal - £198 million (assumes Eze arrives for £60 million) Citeh £127 million ... also gonna put another couple in ... more for the craic than anything to do with the title ... United - £134 million Spurs - £124 million I'm going for Chelsea - partially for shock value ... Either way it's a fookin good job we have PSR and FFP to ensure we have a competitive level playing field ...
Liverpool won it at a canter last season. With the money they’re spending it’s hard to look past them walking the league, again.
Your boys ain't been shy with the chequebook either ... spent over £100 million already ... only potential problem being you've signed 52 players with it
Over 100m in euros maybe. We’ve sold 2 players and brought in 6. One of them we signed on a permanent after having him on loan last season. It’s not like there’s been a complete overhaul of the squad. Burnley have signed 10 players Leeds have signed 7 players
Ok, well I don't keep up with any of the spending with clubs, and I couldn't tell you who has bought whom, I will find out when I watch them play, but help me out here.... When you say United, are we talking about thee Man United, or those Looney Toons? Also why didn't you put them fourth as they spent more money than City...or is that because you have written off Man United or Newcastle before the season has even started? I'm guessing things are not going well at Leicester for you to be creating this and it must be a nice side distration from reality.
Things going fine as it happens mate ... won 4 out of 5 pre season and played 2 yesterday splitting the squad ... Really looking forward to the season.... Monga has starred in the pre seasons and Fatawu is back from his ACL and looking fine - two of the most exciting young talents in the League .. all's good!
Going Chelsea to ruffle some feathers ... they still have the most expensively assembled midfield, despite your purchase of Wirtz ... and they now have a couple of geezers that can convert more prolifically...
Liverpool have replaced Trent La with Frimpong = downgrade. Robertson with Kerkez = upgrade on last season but simple like for like on previous seasons. Do we know absolutely that Ekiteke is an upgrade? No, we don't. He's an unknown, just like the bloke he's replacing and also over paid for, Nunez. So, the reality is that they've made one actual upgrade signing in Wirtz, who will be an upgrade on Diaz. They haven't signed Isak, and probably wont, so he can't be counted. I still make them favourites though, just. I'd have gone Chelsea otherwise. City third, Arsenal fourth, United fifth, Villa sixth, Newcastle seventh. Spurs will remain ****. All the ones just below top six last year like Forest, Brighton Brentford and Fulham will be leapfrogged by United and probably even Spurs.
The championship will be tougher this year than previous seasons. I’d also make Boro a top 6 candidate now they’ve got rid of Carrick. Derby could be dark horses and Lampard done well with Coventry last season, so they could be decent this time around.
Going to be a very competitive league I think. Incredibly hard to call really but I'm pretty confident that Ipswich will win the league. Could be a number of clubs in any order after that though. Agree on Boro but I don't fancy Coventry much this season. Millwall my dark horse for play offs.
