Fair play. Their witch doctors have been healing for thousands of years longer than our medical science, I'm sure there is something to it.

a lot has been taken from witch doctor medicine in the pharmaceutical industry! There are litterally thousands of drugs derived from their herblogy, like glaucoma treatment for example ;)

I see no reason he shouldn't keep to his traditions, quite admirable in fact. One should always be proud of their culture, even when embracing another.

I think he's laughing at how insane this story is. It's either really desperate journalism or another awesome Lord Tiote moment.

Yes, some bits have been taken from Alternative Medicines. We now call these 'Medicines'.

What's left is jive, I'm afraid.

There is undoubtedly a load of superstitious nonsense, but you get that from people everywhere. Human Nature.

There are some really interesting things though. Especially if you cast your eyes over to history in India, some great medical works conducted there. China is also one of note.

Obviously I would rather see my GP, or even self-diagnose than go to a witch doctor. But just making the point that it's his tradition, which is nice. Also that it shouldn't necessarily be dismissed as pointless.

The Indians had a great technique for kidney stones which historical accounts show worked (though there is debate that original problem may have been misdiagnosed) by giving some medicine and applying pressure to certain areas to help it pass. Worth noting that people would die from these in the early 1800's, or whenever it was that we were fighting the French in India (can't be ar*ed to look it up, been a few years since I was reading up on that period), though it is rare now if treated.

As I say, I have a hospital appointment tomorrow and would choose a doctor or nothing. Still..

Would of preferred if he did not have to fly all the way to the Ivory Coast and back really.

I'm all for it. Just because I think it will be good craic for the lads to take the piss and boost morale after Saturday. I could see Jonas welcolming him back with a bone through his nose, blowing smoke and chanting all sorts of ****.

Anyway there is not one of us that can say with any assurity that there is not something in this kind of stuff.

Long shot, but... Dara O'Briain fan?

OT: Whatever floats his boat. Never underestimate the power of a placebo, all the scientific studies show that a placebo can be more effective than genuine medicine in certain situations...

I'd go with this. I reckon given we only understand about 10% of our brain (if you believe this much used stat), I reckon there is a good chance our own brain when harnessed has healing powers. Tiote just needs to get all the negative thoughts out of his brain. You know like "must kill" "must drink blood of oppo" "must maim Perch in training". Positive thinking is all that's required.
