Exactlky. If two different 'reliable sources' claim two entirely different figures it shows they're not reliable and just guessing. The media are generally spoon fed by clubs and agents working for opposing sides.
Except that’s not the case you’ve read my post wrong. Plettinberg and Sky said they want €20m and right now an agreement is not in sight. Sacha Tavoleri who originally broke the move from us said we were trying for €10m but Bayer want more
It's just one possibility, that's all. No one thought Isak was unhappy until he had a poorly leg ... ... the media didn't have a clue.
An agreement can't be in sight until it's an agreement. This is where people are hoodwinked by the media who just want to fill their pages. An agreement might be millions away or half a million ... ... saying it's not in sight is meaningless, it just depends on your eyesight.
I mean it just means there is a big gap in valuations really… They aren’t hoodwinking anyone. Bayer have a price, their own director described it as a “exceptional fee” and we clearly have our own value and the two don’t match obviously we could still negotiate and agree for sure but right now it doesn’t look likely and Bayer don’t need to adhere to us either
But he didn't say Isak wanted out of Newcastle did he ... ... there's been a current commentary that he wanted away unless Newcastle signed better players/won something/qualified for the CL. No one said he'd quit.
But, as you have no idea what figures the two clubs are discussing it's total guesswork ... ... that's my point.
Pretty much yeah. Was promised a new deal last summer, didn't get it and has sulked about ever since. He reported it every step of the way.
That's typical of PL players, never happy and always after more money ... ... Craig Hope just repeated what people were thinking, he didn't have a clue Isak would walk out. Even Howe said he'd be on the plane 100% guaranteed.
The club have done a good job of feeding their trusted journalists this summer when definitive things happen. Phil Smith and Downie in particular. I get the scepticism of journalists, I have my own opinion on some of them, but there's a particular group of them that definitely know what is going on and yes, are used to put information out into the public.
I agree, like I said they're spoon fed by clubs, agents, players, etc ... ... if it goes wrong, as it often does, they can just trot out the 'things have changed' and move on to the next story.
They haven't though have they. You were saying the two figures have been reported, I can't see them. 'up to €20m' means absolutely nothing tbh. It's like saying I'd like up to £20m for the priceless watercolour I found in the attic.
In my opinion, the hardest part was surely persuading Xhaka to come here. Its not easy to grasp when we are still in anticipation for the deal to be complete, but hes major, the club and Kyril will probably feel they have failed if they don't get a deal done. Hopefully we get an announcement soon.
It’s often not as simple as that mind. Public info doesn’t often contain nuances. Things are said for fans to hear to save face and as part of a haggle but it doesn’t mean there initially fees and clauses. It’s possible they’re 10 million apart, it’s maybe a couple of million apart, it’s maybe about what’s upfront and what comes later. I’d doubt if it was untenable we’d still be at it and he’d be thinking it might happen. Undoubtedly those figures will have been whispered by one of the three parties but you’d imagine a lot also unsaid.
Keith downie been the best this summer I post about him before he’s not reported on a single untrue thing only what the club confirms
