There is more than a decent chance we will be in the Playoff spots come January. We already know that there will be a few quid made available by the chairman to strengthen the squad. :emoticon-0110-tongu

So my question to you all is (the usual one for this time of year!)....

...who should we look to bring in during the window/what sort of area(s) should we strengthen?

I think we will be stronger in the next few weeks thanks to the return and imminent return of the likes of Garcia, Dawson, Pusic and Oli. Cooper is also back from his loan.

But none of these are goal scoring strikers and I think we need another to compliment AM and MF.
So for me, we could use another forward come January. The arrival of Waghorn was threatening to sort that one out, but he's back at Less-Tah now and we won't see him again in black & amber.

I wonder if Chris Iwelumo is fed up at Watford yet? Only 10 appearance and 1 goal in a struggling team. We could always use a tall lad up front. I know we have Dele, but he doesn't seem to be the answer does he?

We lack height. But height and quick feet dont always come hand in hand!

    £1m for Pearson, £500k for Homer + £2m from Pappa = Billy Sharp! = 1 in 2 Championship record = Play-offs at least.

If we're going shopping at hard up Watford, I'd much rather have Marvin Sordell than Chris Iwelumo.

    Or Craig Davies from Baaarnsley.

I'd love us to get Billy Sharp, but I think he'll end up staying where he is until at least the end of this season.

Well i mentioned Sordell last week and he fits into the ethos of the current City team. Young and hungry and with NB in charge to help improve his game further that could be a very good shout.

iwelomo can play once Sordell leaves....Lol. After the Coventry game ive changed my mind on Jukiewwicz. what a useless lump he was and if Adkins/Saints want to bid 3m for him then let them.

So maybe now, NB will bring in another GK and striker On Loan along with just One WOW money signing. BILLY SHARP.

According to yesterdays papers, Swansea are planning a £3.5m bid for Sordell in Jan, but Saints are willing to go to £4m(though Saints seem to have been linked with a move for every striker in the top ten scorers list already this month).

I agree about Craig Davies but assuming his contract is fairly long as he only joined at the start of this season, I would suggest that his value has already inflated itself way beyond his actual worth

He only signed for them this season, but they didn't give him a very long deal, he's only got 18 months to run on it, though that's still long enough to make his price a bit high for a January transfer, unless Barnsley are skint.

George Boyd at P'boro looks quite handy? If Ipswich are still in the ****e then always have a crack at Chopra?

I'd rather quality come in than another player just to make up the numbers.

I think we need 2 strikers. Midfield/defence plenty of cover, maybe another keeper depending on the long term fitness of Basso.

I see Jimmy Bullard has fallen out of favour at Ipswich. Absolutely cracking player on his day, I think he could really push our team on towards promotion, and at 18k per week he's not on too high wages and maybe worth a shout?

Craig Davies is definetly a good shout. If he proves to expensive, I'd go for Hearn at Grimsby. He'll not cost a lot and is scoring for fun in the BSP (I know, but if you know where the goal is then you aren't going to go far wrong. The size and shape of the goal is the same in every league. It's just how good the opposition are in front of it :D....I still think he is destined for higher things).

A goalkeeper needs sorting as a priority, so I think De Vries would be the best if the rumours are true. Shame Jack Butland has done so well at Cheltenham, now PL clubs are after him. Was hoping we might sneak in a bid when Birmingham were lower down. If not him, then Cammy Bell from Kilmarnock would do just fine in the CCC.

I'll tell you who I think is one of the very best strikers in the Championship who I would love to see us sign, but his club would never sell....Marvin Emnes.

He's having a fantastic run this year (2011) but didn't do a whole lot before that. Perhaps just took him time to settle (about 2 years!). I think if Boro would sell, there would be competition for him, especially from Swansea.

He's had his contract extended to the end of the 2014 season, they turned down millions from Swansea and Mowbray said last week he wasn't for sale at any price.

Nice as it would be, I think that one's even less likely than Maynard(who isn't coming either Tickler).

I like Cox, Sordell and Sharp but I'm not convinced any of them are the answer. I honestly don't think any of them would score more goals than Matt Fryatt. We really need a "different" striker. My mate on Saturday suggested we need Dele Adebola of about 10 years ago which I'd go along with.

Chris Wood would be absolutely perfect, I think, but I think he's highly unlikely. Someone in that mould though.
