20yrs ago there was a copper who went out of his way to let speeding city fans off. i wasnt aware of this till he pulled me near humber bridge after a crazy rush home from kidderminster. i said ever so sorry mate but my pals real ill and on the verge of being sick/passing out. i know its no excuse (i think they like to hear that you arent expecting them to swallow your excuse. so make it a non excuse.) but i just let that cloud my judgement. cos i dont normally drive that fast. etc he said we know who you are and that you go to all the away games. (im like what the?) and he said you'd better get your mate home but just slow it down. i later related this story to a workmate who said it was his pal. he's a city fan and he goes round letting city fans off for speeding.!!!! wonder if he's still in a job.
that laugh could have green lit the use of pepper spray on another day...... and going back to my previous post most of them are bald so its hard to tell who was once a fair cop....
Yeah I’ve had much less pleasant dealings with the police on some other matters in all honesty, but on this one I think he was just chuffed that I’d fallen into his trap, as in the verbal know the speed limit one not the speed trap. He’d got his question ready to humiliate people and was obviously correct, if pedantic
I got pulled over on the A34 years ago, 1970's, doing what I thought was 100 on a Honda 500 twin. Do you know what speed you were doing? he says. A few too many I answered sheepishly. We clocked you at 95 he says, followed by a big bollocking, then 'anyway I didn't think these bikes went that fast'. I was hurt, humbled, humiliated! But he let me off so I swallowed my pride and thought about what bike to get next.
