    Should be more competitive than we've seen so far. A good chance to see what our starting 11 will approximate to. For the princely sum of £6.50 on Charlton TV.

    NJ had said after the last game that Ramsay would play. Neither Assimwe or the trialist looked anywhere near Ramsay standard.

    Copied from the CAFC website;

    Cambridge United 1 Charlton 1

    Miles Leaburn scored as the Addicks drew with Cambridge United at the Cledara Abbey Stadium in Charlton’s fourth pre-season friendly of the summer.

    In a feisty opening to the game it was the hosts who had the first look at goal. Ryan Loft beat the Charlton offside trap to go through one-on-one with Thomas Kaminski. The striker’s attempt to lob over the Addicks’ stopper was poor and gathered comfortably by Kaminkski.

    Former Addick Michael Morrison then headed over and another former Charlton player Sullay Kaikai had a shot deflected wide.

    As the half wore on Charlton took control with a number of long passing moves. Rob Apter’s cross from the right was met by Micah Mbick who, under pressure, couldn’t quite get enough purchase on his header to trouble the hosts.

    Leaburn opened the scoring 31 minutes in when Cambridge could only clear a cross from the left to the edge of the box. Greg Docherty’s first-time volley was on target and in the wet conditions Cambridge goalkeeper Jake Eastwood fumbled the ball into Leaburn’s path. The striker powered his shot home from close range.

    Leaburn looked set for his second five minutes later but another former Addick, Ben Purrington, got his head to Tyreece Campbell’s cross at the back post, just before the Charlton striker could connect with the ball

    The Addicks started the second half as they finished the first and minutes in Campbell cut inside from the left and unleashed a shot, but a deflection took the sting out of the effort making it easy for Eastwood.

    Kaikai then could have scored when played in by Loft on the counter attack but he wasn’t able to connect properly with the ball and drove his shot straight at Kaminski.

    Nathan Jones used his substitutes bench in the 60th minute, changing all 10 outfield players and Daniel Kanu nearly made an instant impact. The striker got on the end of a Macaulay GIllesphey long ball but Kanu’s shot, from a tight angle went wide of goal.

    Cambridge’s equaliser was a scrappy goal, 20 minutes from time, attributed to substitute George Hoddle after the Addicks failed to completely clear a driven shot from Loft.

    Both sides had half chances to win the game but it finished in a stalemate.
