Can Sunderland go on a winning-run and finish above you?

Hmm why would we be so interested in finishing above Sunderland? Unless that involves one of us qualifying for Europe or winning something, I fail to see the importance. Surely that would just be a mini table of mediocrity? Not really fussed how Sunderland do as long as they aren't relegated so we can keep the derbies.

Do you think you have any hope of finishing above Arsenal now the Spurs balloon has been popped by Stoke? Arsenal look the much better bet for the long run, Spurs seem to have a few with hearts like split peas.

  2. Good question.

However, and despite our loss (the first in 12 games) to Stoke, I remain extremely upbeat about our chances of pushing City all the way to the title. Let's examine the facts.

We retain a game in hand over all our nearest rivals, which if we win will take us above Chelsea, even if Chelsea manage to beat City tonight. Secondly, I am sure that Harry and the lads, far from being disheartened by the result against Stoke, will be seething with the injustice of how we came to be beaten, and will use that rage to spur us on to win the next game. It's not as though Stoke either deserved their win or that we looked like a team teetering on the edge of a collapse. Quite the reverse, in fact. Stoke did not deserve to win, we were cheated out of a result, and we were camped in their half throughout the whole of the second half of that match. Plus, I doubt many teams will go to Stoke and get more than a draw, this season.

As regards our rivals, Arsenal are a one-man team, and if they lose RvP to injury or fatigue the will plummet. 'Pool, despite their win at the weekend, still look unconvincing and are too inconsistent to be considered to be a real threat for a top 4 slot; and Chelsea still look like a team in crisis, albeit that I do not see them going into total collapse.

Towels are banned after they withdrew them halfway through the QPR match the other week, spit their dummies out because the opposition were using them again. That's why Shotton had the bib thing on that Delap usually has for away games. Cheats.

Spurs won't get near the title. The Manchester sides are streets ahead to be perfectly honest. I'd be a bit concerned after yesterday. Heads went down too easy and the willingness/drive to overcome poor decisions like a top 4 team just wasn't there. Tactically I thought Harry was a bit naive too. Arsenal do need other strike options to be fair, but I think people forget Gervinho is more than capable of filling the role if needed.

This time last season we had Bent/Gyan/Welbeck we have nobody anywhere near them atm. Until we can do something about strikers not even MoN can overcome the 'lack'. As for you skunks you have had a great run, so did we last season, 39/40 points is till our (and your) target. We have spuds and qpr up next it will be tough. You are a lot closer to the safety line than we are, well done, but you still have to get there, what happens if fat Mike sells off some of your better players in Jan?

It's your own fault, could have surely got better replacements in and not pissed off Gyan

  18. Actually, we've been there for quite a few seasons. Teams have always raised their game against us. That's why we've always had to play twice as good as the rest of the league.
