Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Utd are still very much in the race to sign Gyokeres. Apparently Gyokeres still holding out for Arsenal but other reports say we've gone silent and are no longer negotiating.
This pretty much 100% confirms the Mosquera signing, even though it was kinda leaked the other day. He's flown out to Singapore to meet up with the squad. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/cg75xxlg7yjo
At long last, seems like the Gyokeres deal is over the line. And as fantastic news as it is, I really hope we try for Eze now. Ideally we'd get 1 more player after, but that is probably asking for too much. If we get Eze and Gyokeres, that'd be pretty close to a perfect window, in my opinion. Hopefully we're not left short again. I do think now there's going to be a big focus on outgoings. My guess is that Eze coming in is dependent on who leaves.
If Trossard goes we need to replace him. Other than that I think we are set. Window was basically replace the leavers (and Jesus because he's out till Jan) + Madueke.
I cant stand our approach to announcing signings - it's cheesy marketing and way after everyone knows already! When the deal is done the club should announce it, but we seem to wait for an incompetent PR team to get their **** together for 2 weeks. Rant over
I won't believe it until I see it ! This is a club that we all know has a habit of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory !
I think as a club , we don't do ourselves any favours when it comes to communicating with the fans. Mosquera is on his way out to join the squad on tour and we haven't even announced we've signed him. Who knows when Gyokeres will be announced - probably some time before all the web content is made.
I think there are a lot of Arsenal fans waiting to let out a collective "at last" .... now breathe !!! I honestly think the Gyokeres signing is the one that will determine how much invested in the next season fans will be. So many are pissed off with the Madueke signing its pushed them to the edge.
I think the frustration with the Madueke signing was about the timing. If it had happened at the end of the window after we'd signed Gyokeres and hopefully Eze, then people would have been more onside. But it came when we were crying out to sign a striker and there we were dropping £50m on another Chelsea player. I think it will turn out to be a really good signing, because the lad has got a lot of pace, directness and scores goals. It definitely something our squad needs, a player who will run at the full backs and put the defenders on the back foot.
