According to Soccerbase, I assume it's correct but can't vouch for it http://www.soccerbase.com/referees/referee.sd?referee_id=142 On the stats shown, he's reffed 7 Prem games, 6 home wins, one draw ........ This includes the notorious QPR game where he was absolutely appalling and gave some very harsh decisions against Chelsea. Naturally as Spurs fans we enjoyed the result, but I was genuinely sympathetic to a Chelsea fan I know when discussing it with him. To me Foy robbed Chelsea of the game with his poor display. Also I keep reading on other sites that Foy was maybe evening up for the Stoke game last season when Stoke were denied a late 'equaliser'. This is a disgraceful misreading of what happened in the game, which was aided and abetted by Sky. Gomes WAS CLEARLY FOULED by Huth before the Crouch incident, and so it should never have stood, but for some reason Sky seemed to want to talk about the Crouch rather than the Huth incident. Furthermore, Gomes was fouled by a Stoke player, Huth again IIRC, for their first 'goal', so in fact Stoke scored no legitimate goals at all. Not only that, but all game long Stoke were playing their usual dirty, fouling, cheating tactics and Foy let them off time and again. It took some great defending and a wonder goal for us to win that, there was no substantial help given by Foy whatsoever. He should never have been given this match yesterday, and I hope Spurs register an official complaint over his inept refereeing.
Having seen his performances in our game with QPR and your one yesterday, I can only draw the conclusion that he is a ref far too influenced by the crowd and a hostile atmosphere.
Exactly, he simply can't cope. He was appalling last season when he reffed us up there, and he was even worse this season. And as already mentioned he was appalling in your game too. The fact he comes from up North might suggest some anti-London bias here, but I truly don't want to believe any of our refs are corrupt. It would simply ruin football for me, if I thought the game was fixed in any way. I just have to pray it's weak incompetence and that he never refs us again.
It'll be interesting to see which game he gets next - after the QPR-Chelsea match, he ref-ed a Championship match next. I wonder if a similar thing will happen here.
Would a Championship club accept such an amateur though? I always found it insulting that if a ref is found wanting in the Premier League, they're banished to a couple of Championship games. Errm...what did the Championship do to deserve someone who can't do their job properly?
Foylum should be sacked for this extremely high level of utter incompetence, I hope he never referees in the PL again.
Well, unless the BBC are wrong (or there's another referee who's surname is Foy, he's the referee at the Fulham vs Bolton match today. So he did get another Premier League match after last week :S
So he didn't even get dropped down to the Championship? Now imagine what would have happened had he given that display against Man Utd.
