I thought Simons did as well as anybody under him. And I thought it was incredibly harsh to bin him off in January, and then daft to sell him this summer. He was on a modest wage and he was clearly improving and had a very good spell at Wycombe. We don't have a defensive midfielder in the squad but we're obviously desperate for cash. In a midfield with players with technical players I think he'd have done really well.
It depends on the terms of the loans Acun has taken out and what assets are used as collateral. Acun would be a bigger fool than some are saying if he’s put Acun Medya at risk to fund a football club. I wouldn’t be surprised if the club and its assets were the main collateral. It might explain why he’s publicly trying to inflate the squad value to £100m.
He probably used forward funding of future transfers (Lewis-Potter and Greaves) and TV money as collateral for the initial loan from Santander. I suspect you’re right that he put the club up for any other loans to finance the club. No way would he put Acun Medya at risk as collateral.
As he's been reasonably injury prone I can imagine one would just be a base number of appearances which should be achievable, perhaps another for goal contributions, and if they are successful. Those seem the usual.
I wouldn't be surprised to see a debt restructure though in order to sell the club incredibly cheaply but with a stack of debt.
He was inconsistent at times, but when he was at his best he was absolutely exceptional. Seemed to need the calming figure of seri next to him to bring out his best from what I can remember.
The club isn’t owned by Acun Medya directly either. There are several layers of holding companies with the club being owned by ACM Sports BV, which is owned by Acun Medya Holding BV, which is owned by Acun Medya Holdings AŞ, which is owned by Acun. No doubt that’s to protect Acun Medya as much as possible.
Spot on, he was excellent for the most part, especially given his age and the fact he played in a demanding position. He has all the makings of a great player, he just needs to leave Liverpool and get regular game time. They screwed him over last season, hopefully they won’t do the same again this year.
It'll be interesting to see how much he finally goes for, however much it is,it's further evidence of Acun picking the carcass down to it's very bones...
He only moved house last year, he and his wife are very settled and love living in this area. He definitely didn’t want to move clubs until he was told in March that if an offer came in for him the club would sell him.
If only we'd known when he came on waving the scarf...The truth is perhaps those steeped in the history of HCAFC, already had an inkling. All Our Yesterdays. Reminds me of the trip to Brighton on a Friday night at the running track stadium when the late John Prescott, turned up and some geezer, probably Brendan Smuthwaite gave him a B&A scarf to wave at the City fans..The City fans waved back in a well-known salute....It was funny.
3m for Alfie is quality business, we are well covered in CB and he had fallen out of favour. Frees up some funds for the top end of the pitch hopefully...
