Depends on what is important for RLB, he might feel we don't have a 10 and that is what he wants
That doesn’t mean it’s right for the club. We’ve already got so many players. There just aren’t gonna be the minutes for them. We can’t run a squad of approaching 30. We simply won’t keep them all motivated and connected.

I hear what you're saying and even agree with it to an extent, but I'll let the club decide what's the right amount. They're the ones who will have to keep them motivated and connected and if Regis thinks he can then I back him

Its not like they've not thought about it.

Do you expect everybody to stay like...

Hjelde
Pembele
Rusyn
Hemir
Ba
Aouchiche (gone)
Triantis
Ekwah
Anderson
Browne
Matete
Neil (if he doesn't sign a deal)
Cirkin (if he doesn't sign a deal)
Aleksic
Jones
Poveda

That's 16 departures

Will all likely leave on loan or be sold

If RLB, KLD, KS and FG believe this lad is worth it then it's definitely right for the club

The squad will be trimmed down, it's better signing players then selling or loaning players out from a position of strength.

We dont have many if any natural AMs so this lad brings a different skillset to the team, that's important

The other CMs we have Triantis and Jones, will be loaned out or sold. That then leaves 7 CMs, 1 in Neil is out of contract at the end of the season and Browne isn't likely to play much and might even get sold

7 CMs isn't overkill if we keep Browne imo

7 CMs is a pretty normal thing

That they’ve thought about it doesn’t mean they’re right about it though. A massively inflated squad size is a terrible idea for us this season for many reasons. Not least because Reggie doesn’t really rotate. However add in the idea that our fallback relies on these players generating good money if we fail to stay up and we start to create our own problems. The only reason Leicester are getting their cash back on el Khannouss is because he played over 2000 pl minutes. But with a projected squad of more than 25 outfielders sharing only 38000 minutes between them it becomes harder to maintain that reputation - particularly when we’ve got such a massive number of players in attacking areas. According to fan wishes, we’re lining up for 6 midfielders, 5 wingers, 4 strikers plus a dedicated number 10 all vying for 6 shirts plus a few seats on the bench. That’s crazy to me - and way beyond what most of teams will actually carry.

Yeh. Towards the end of the season both Jones and Aleksic were regulars on the bench but I'd expect both to leave on loan. Aleksic will essentially be replaced by El Khannouss in the squad I guess.

Not sure what you're actually worried about, we currently have Browne, Neil, Aleksic as our backup to our current 3 CM's all 3 likely won't be here bar Neil, what is the issue

That's not fans wishes, most wish for a strong squad and team that can compete in the PL

If our recruitment team and manager feel this lad gives us a better chance then great

The squad will get massively trimmed down by the end of the window so the squad won't be inflated

It's not as if we 6 class CM's either, we have our starting 3, the 3 backing those 3 up arguably aren't of the level required and likely won't be here bar maybe Neil

The experts might be wrong, you might be right. That's fair.

But they're the ones who will have to manage it. So I give them the benefit of the doubt if this is what they want.

Haway man there were zero penalties awarded against them at old trafford for 6 seasons. If thats not referee intimidation I don’t know what is
I have no doubt they tried it. Just no chance it got them 5 titles. They got them because they were the best team, playing the best footy and had the best manager at the time.

I’m not sure how us as fans can tell the club what they’re doing is right or wrong in terms of how many players RLB wants in his squad

I genuinely don't get the problem either, speaking like we currently have 6 class centre mid's we have 3 <laugh>

I get disagreeing with the approach, and I get being concerned. But the signing will only happen if RLB wants it to happen. And if he wants it to happen he's considered the impact on the rest of the squad.

I know one argument has been that RLB has said he wants a small squad so then we shouldn't sign too many players. But we wouldn't be signing them if RLB didn't want them. So what he's said in the past is being over-ruled by what he's doing in practice

All it would take is for a ref to send a couple people off for doing exactly that and players would stop doing it. I’d be happy for them ruining a couple games to get rid off that behaviour
And it would take the PL and FA to back the refs. That's always what's missing.
