Unless they don’t care all that much about Newcastle and just want the best players in Saudi

We are too nice and have been for years, obviously we don't want to go overboard but a couple more players with some bite would be great.

For several days, the Saudi club Al-Hilal has entered a phase of negotiations to bring in the Swedish striker Alexander Isak.

It'd also prevent any PL rivals getting their mitts on a striker that scored 23 goals in 34 matches last season

A fully fit Isak would be looking to get 30 goals or more a season

Just looked up Cristiano Ronaldo's pay and it's $275m a year

    That's something like $5m a week :emoticon-0164-cash:

PL believed there was no link between Saudi government & PIF.....& Then is was stated by them there was in US regarding the golf carry-on.....what happened to the PL looking at the connection again when asked..... sweeping brush, carpet lifted

It could be they had a couple top GK prospects (Petrovic and bulka) then have a lower tier of GK as their next targets. Going for the lower might mean someone coming in to really challenge Patterson rather than a guaranteed starter, I would be ok with that if we signed 2 top draw CBs

I've said a few times that we need to upgrade on Patterson, thought he wss poor to average for the majority of last season. He did slim down towards the end of the season and this brought his best form especially in the final - he looks in good a shape in preseason. The flip with giving Patterson a chance is does the new GK coach take him to a brand new level, then getting someone who can really push him for thr no1 jersey would be key.

Signing 2 of the 3 CBs would be massive imo, really strengthens the heart of the defence - on paper at least - and allows a couple of the young cbs to go on loan to get valuable game time

I was gonna say would this be the same premier league that allowed the sale cause there was no link to the Saudi Regime?

No chance are they upsetting the Saudis they were briefed by our government not to upset the new cash cow!

Quick edit to add our government might be a bit harsh maybe it was just Boris but I doubt it!

In an ideal world we'd get 2 of the 3 cb linked and a new keeper but we havent got an unlimited budget, especially when we need other improvements.

Just a thought as the keeper links had gone really quiet while being linked to move top cb. Knowing us we'll sign a keeper out the blue <laugh>

I expected a flurry of links last night. It’s happened every other Sunday night this window. It’s been quiet except for the winger.
