I'm going with Lonners..he's our No.1..playing well until the finger injury...having McCarthy tho can only be a good thing...lot more confidence in him when he plays and keeps Lonners on his toes
I havent managed to vote yet either mate! McCarthy has been spot on, overall I think a 9/10 for us. But Lonners has also kept us in it a good few times & had a real solid start to the season. Its not a position that you want to rotate often & I think they both deserve full time football!
We'll never have both for the reasons hinted at above. Who would be the No. 1, & would the other wish to just keep the bench warm knowing its not a job that can or should be done on rotation. Pity, & even more of a pity that we didn't have McCarthy as back up to Lonners when Lonners damaged his hand/arm or whatever it was.
I would have Andy Lonergan and Alex Mcarthy over any other keeper in the league serious keepers same situation as Nigel Martyn n Paul Robinson I love it
Lonergan miles better kicking And BOTH goals were mccartney fault against Barnsley Dont people remember this
LIW I do remember Barnsley yes! the first he couldn't really help jammy as **** goal (I dont know why that **** celebrated so much when it was **** technique) the second goal is his only real fault in a leeds shirt! How many times has he saved our arse? Burnley Millwall Watford Pretty much every other game
THe first goal was his fault too, without a doubt, watch it again. I think hes really good, just when people say hes been faultless, its crap. I also thought he nearly messed up the pen save
Yes he got the slightest of touches that SkySports news didn't even notice it they said it had just hit the post Love the fact that he went mental after we scored showed some passion! that save at his bottom right v Burnley was awesome
It would be amazing to have both permanently. Lonners is definitely better (just, though) at the moment but I have very little doubt that McCarthy will eventually be better. Hopefully his loan being extended for a month is a precursor to a permanent move in January (one can dream...).
I would go for Lonners but it would be great to have McCarthy as second choice. If we did sign him, i would see McCarthy as the long term option
agreed, lonners for now, but mccarthy in a few years will be englands no1 or no2 depending how hart carries on. however all the noises hes made suggest hes a keeper who would rather get 1st team football than simply play for a big club
